So i've googled DC offset a bit: DC- means Direct Current. It has to do with the Architecture of the device. If an electronic device has no current its off. So to keep it active you make use of Direct Current (a very low current to keep it going) This means that you are not centered to 0 (=0 voltage) but slightly higher or lower. You can see DC offset by zooming in on a view of a waveform. If the clip’s zero-crossing line - the place where the waveform crosses from positive to negative voltage or vice versa - is actually not at zero, but higher or lower, you’ve got DC offset. If you hear clicks or experience low-level distortion you can check for DC offset by recording a few seconds of silence. If the resulting waveform appears above or below the zero line, there’s probably DC offset. The “Remove DC Offset ” function- and Logic Pro, Digital Performer, Sound Forge, and most other digital audio applications include this - is an easy way to eliminate the DC component from audio signals. Omfg you really dont know what dc offset is but youve mastered the serum wavetable editor 😂 man i feel you. You can learn something inside and out and still feel lost af lmao. Dc offswt removes the inaudible highs and lows that eat up headroom in mixes. Needs to be the first plugin fx on every individual sound being put through the daw. You do t hear a dif until you go to master and it doesnt sound right.

2:07 Seems like this enables you to set the amount of each overtone (frequency from the harmonic series). This is really cool and in my opinion a much better way to envision sound then to look at the waveform. It can also be used to inspect the overtones of some basic shapes. As a beginner that's quite useful for me.

On the additive part it's basically a spectrum but you can adjust each harmonic amplitude. The grey boxes are the root frequency. And the box bellow it is where you can adjust the phase of each harmonic. I get way better results from it then the draw section. I usually use it to get a starting table to then FM and resample a bunch.

as far as i know the dc offset neutralizes a raised offset from the zero line caused by a superpositioned straight signal. so lets say for example you dont use a virtually generated waveform, but one you recorded with an active microphone, the power supply of these mics will often generate this offset. neutralizing this will leave you more headspace for positive and negative amplitude meaning potencially more volume. im not quiet sure if this is 100% correct, so better dont quote me, but thats the way i got it. awesome vid as usual!

You're correct, remove DC offset basically centers the waveform so that you've got a more even push and pull of the speaker cone!

Damn bro this was a good tutorial. I've been watching virtual riots ways of making tables and lately wanted to make my own. You speak fast making it short but people can pause or rewatch if they don't understand. Well done on this. I learned alot

Only thing I think you could have done better is when showing cross fade click on the wave table outside of Editor. Gives a visual of the Crossfade

Cool video. I've watched a bunch of these wave editor manipulation videos (virtual riots, ARTFX, Etc.) mostly converting samples into wavetables. I just don't do it enough and end up forgetting critical parts and then jumping back on youtube. I definitely need to build myself a good user library of them. That "kinda saw" shape is basically an "analog saw" with the crossover being dead center instead of the 12% lean to the left the analog saw has. at least that's how my brain thinks of it... we should give it name though. actually, it prob has one. maybe someone will jump in here with it.

Remove DC offset removes shit that does not make a sound in a way. Try making a sine wave in the top of the centre never crossing the center line and try to remove DC offset and you will see what it does

Hola Hermano !! I want to suggest here an idea for your tutos. I was watching this: vimeo.com/162505232 nice tuto on how to make this deep techno darkish chords BUT is for Massive (which sucks a bit I'm using serum now). It would be cool to go over this dark chords and its possibilities and uses in serum and how to polish a little bit with serum fx. Mucha gracias

you need to learn to speak more succintly and unambiguously. Also don't do tutorials on things you dont understand fully, you are doing everyone who watches this a disservice by spreading incomplete and partially inaccurate info.
