Not every character in a story needs to be a main character. The reason why Rammatra and Doomfist are so well written is because they are the main antagonists, so they pretty much have to be. But that's not to say that side characters aren't important either, they definitely are.

Ramm is an interesting villain in that he is basically justified in his actions and his characterisation points to some of the more troubling parts of blizzard's writing. It is mentioned here and in his backstory video that his "race is a single generation. finite, and dying all too quickly", which pretty clearly states that omincs are facing a genocide and are nearing extinction at the hands of bigoted humans. The game does a terrible job of illustrating this because of its constant use of omnics as, essentially, props while also constantly blurring the line of what constitutes an omnic: the sentient humanoids and the mindless drones with lasers for faces are both referred to generally as omnics. Ramm begins fighting back because humans, by and large, were disinterested in living peacefully with omnics and began to destroy them indiscriminately - the narrative vilifies Ramm for this, and portrays humans as victims. Overwatch as an organisation seems to not give a shit about the causes of all the Null Sector uprisings, namely a desperate struggle for survival, and seems to want to end the uprisings by completely obliterating one of the few movements championing omnic liberation which only really validates Null Sector's existence. Overwatch chose to continue the cycle of violence by ignoring what caused the violence in the first place, they have done nothing to combat the persecution of omnics by humans and are, arguably, contributing to that oppression by openly persecuting dissident omnics that are rising against their aggressors. That said, I have no idea why they'd suddenly have Ramm trying to brainwash rando omnics, that seems wildly out of character - but I guess they needed their villain to do something unmistakably evil to give you a reason to side against him, idk. It's also interesting to me that they had Rammatra directly quote the communist manifesto with "you have nothing to lose but your chains". Some interesting decisions being made there

@@spookyscary6400 they are a single generation because more sentient omnics aren't being born, the robots they use might be produced in omniums (if they are to begin with), but unlike them, they are just machines without sentience. But he suffers from blizzard storytelling, 1 cutscene is all we get and probably will for at least 3 seasons since there are no more story missions in the roadmap lmao, and that because of that, we don't know about what his plan might be regarding the helmets on omnics.

I find it really interesting to see newbie/recruit Zenyatta. He’s not floating yet, he’s not speaking in his transcendent tone, he even outright says "I still have much to learn". You know, since the character of Ramattra was revealed, the theory has been popping up in my mind for some time that Mondatta's death was not entirely Talon's doing, they were a means to an end and his assassination in London was commissioned by Ramattra himself: seeing the impossibility of finding a compromise for a peace between humans and Omnics and developing the idea that humans are nothing more than a plague for the Omnic race, Ramattra understands that the only solution possible in his opinion is the annihilation of the human race. Mondatta is both an obstacle and an opportunity. Seem pretty simple for me: commission Talon to assassinate the most important omnic spiritual leader, send a human to do the dirty work and here is the perfect pretext to start a war (that's a short explanation, I didn't want to make it too long). What do you think about it?

One thing I always loved about Zenyatta’s design is how even though he talks about the sadness he sees in Ram his character is given such sad and profound eyes displaying his own sadness. He achieved enlightenment to only lose his brother and his master. It shows how much of a toll it’s taken on him and I love that it is shown with just the slightest of facial expression.

His conversation with Master Mondatta while Zenyatta listens, patiently, is beautiful, and so sad. And even then Master Mondatta wanted for Ramattra to treat us with kindness despite being different. I imagine that Zenyatta was torn in not walking side by side with his brother. Reliving Mondatta’s assassination was just a dagger in the heart

I think the reason that Rammatra is hijacking omnics minds is to form a collective consciousness or form something like the Iris. Maybe he even found a way to bring them into the Iris. I think 2:01 is foreshadowing this.

My guess is for the next PvE mission is that widow and sombra will actually be there to “protect” zenyatta. Since he’s Rammatra’s closest friend, they need to keep him alive as an insurance policy in case Null Sector takes things too far. Talon wants to start a war for humanity to evolve, but I doubt they gain much if Null Sector wins the war and wipes them out. After the team up, Genji rescues Zenyatta from Talon and they have the reunite scene like in the overwatch 2 trailers

Interesting that Ram would team up with the organization that employs Mondatta's murderer. You get a deep sense of respect & reverence between him and Ram from this cutscene alone, despite their differing viewpoints. I'd be seething at Widow if I were him. We'll see where this whole thing goes though. Feels good to finally have a chronology to follow in OW, despite the weak gameplay in PVE.

@@kasm7870 Ah that's probably true! They could potentially use this in the story as well, by having Tracer be the one to tell him after Overwatch inevitably finds out who Ram is working with.

Imagine this: just as Sombra and Widowmaker happen upon Zenyatta, they come under attack and it turns out that Rammatra not only intended to do the same thing he did in Toronto, but happened upon discovering who killed his old friend. In a sense, a means to an end. And now a very shake my allience is formed (alongside with a tank who we don’t really know who that would be right now) to fend off the attackers. Of course, it could also be a case where Genji could happen to be in the same room and we have a “retribution” like event where we have one healer and three three attackers (with Genji as one of them). Either way, hopefully the wait won’t be too long for the next wave of PvE missions.

I thought I read in Doomfist lore that he tried to make an alliance with Ramattra and that he was considering it, but did Widow kill Mondatta under Talons orders? Imagine Ramattra teams up with Talon but finds that out later, how juicy.

It’s 100% the driving force of the story. Talon kills Mondata to try and reignite Null Sector. Rammatra is unaware of the killer, but revives the resistance. Talon seizes the opportunity to back up Null Sector in the interest of a weakened world

Touching flashback on Ramattra's departure from the Shambali and the bond he shared with Zenyatta. However, Zenyatta is going to be devastated to see was his friend has become. That is where Ramattra gives him an ultimatum: Join Null Sector to "liberate" Omnic kind or refuse, remain a "traitor" to his own kind. And even If Ramattra was aware of Mondatta's assassination, he couldn't care less. Afterall, after the Kings Row Uprising, Mondatta and the Shambali had condemned Null Sector as terrorist which in infuriated Ramattra.

They’re not talking to Zen, they’re informing someone at Talon (likely Reaper or Doomfist) that they have found Zenyatta, likely to kidnap him as we have seen Genji fighting Talon units and trying to escort Zen through them.
