Crutchfield is awesome, customer service is 2000x better than anywhere else! Especially for car audio, for example, you buy a deck and they give you all harnesses needed, dash kit, everything for free and a perfect instalment guide that they produce for each order/build individualized for the vechical you're installing into. And if you still have problems they have people that will take the time to talk you through the whole process. You don't get service like that anywhere else!

What the maggies DON'T do is high level macro dynamics and base! .. even crossed over to a subwoofer, gives you a lean sound. Play Bob Marley heavy percussion or dynamic rock music and you'll be disappointed with Maggies. Pain and simple. These little jamos i briefly heard at Frys electronics today. WOW! Some prefer their speakers more bright, or neutral, or warmer. The out-of-phase issue with the room size and placement can be a concern for some with electrostatic speakers. Magnapans do offer a bass panel for lower-end articulation: www.magnepan.com/DWM_and_DW_1_Woofers Magnepan did do a blind test of dual .7's and a single bass panel for experts and audiophiles to review which they were impressed by: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWHKpJyum6mWlbc Unfortunately, there're many factors that contribute to the personal satisfaction of a system. Less expensive speakers can sometimes impress when paired with the appropriate amp. Expensive speakers can sometimes impress when paired with a super cheap amp. I think Elac's Debut series is the best bang for the buck out there, but that's based on my taste and the fact that I have a hi-fi store near me that allows me to test speakers with many types of electronics at will. If you have a store near you like this, then please take advantage of it at will. I think speakers are the most critical factor for a system, with the amp coming well behind it.

KEF Q100 VS. Jamo S803 :O Just received my pair and got them set up. Coming from kef q100s. These are much lighter, don't feel as well built, don't look as well built IMO either. They seem less resonant based on my knuckle raps though. The kefs clearly have the more advanced driver which is excellent at dispersing sound for a wiiide sweet spot. (UNI-Q) Love that driver. Love my kefs... These are better. Instantly, noticeably. GOBS of detail. My god. They have an instantly noticeable amount of detail over the q100s, and dare I say even better imaging..I did NOT expect this at all. I'm shocked. Right out of the box, the q100s were harsh, sharp, and hurt my ears, but they did have a semblance of smoothness. Over time, they broke in and got smoother, with a nice peak at the top end that made everything up top sound sort of, crystalline. Whether that's pleasant to you, or not is objective..it is something I grew to appreciate. Female vocals, incredible on the kefs. Male, a little empty. They do not in any way shape or form retrieve the amount of detail these Jamos do. The Jamos have more bite, are more dynamic, are better out of the box with much better detail retrieval, have better imaging, without that peaky top end. They might have a SMALL bump around the mid bass range, but to my ears they also sound more flat, and much more exciting without any EQ than the kefs do. The kefs sound a bit far, and polite, these are more forward, and aggressive, but not too much so, the kefs sound almost veiled in comparison. I am legitimately hearing things I didn't hear at all with the KEFS, that I could only hear with headphones on, with these. They sound like you're with the band, the kefs sound like you're at a concert. These Jamos were like slipping on a semi open back headphone, and the kefs sound like open back headphones. Kefs have the wider (not by much) sound stage and sweet spot due to the UNI-Q tech. I imagine the s803s will open up with break in. In summary, I'm astounded. Buy these before they're gone with the wind like every other Jamo.

@@intoitreviews I have these and the C93s and agree completely with Zeos' comments. 93s are a great speaker and put out way more low end, at least in my space, and a more forward high-end but the 803s have a more natural and even sound that just flows. Both are great but I'm leaving the 803s up and the C93s have been relegated to the shelf.
@intoitreviews5 жыл бұрын
@@KCC46 interesting... I have c91s and would agree 100 percent with you on the sound difference there. C91s are warmer and deeper low end even though less than a c93 obviously just due to the size difference. The s803 sound more like electrostats to me than any dynamic I've heard, which makes them unique and special, but I actually left my c91s up in my main two channel system and regulated the s803 to a different room for "variety." They are very different from the c series... more effervescent and I'm not sure thats really a 5 inch driver in there lol seems more like a 4 inch with a wave guide... nonetheless both great speakers in my book, but I think the s803 are more fun and the c series is more for critical listening.

I did not want to go with the "out of box surround setup" that Jamo offered so I plunked together my own surround setup. Every speaker in my setup has a 5" driver except the heights, which are 4”. As Zeos mentioned you would want to get a matching or even bigger set of speakers for the center channel (that is of coarse if you wanted to have a center channel). The Jamo S 83 Center channel speaker is a monster. Dual 5" drivers with 1” soft dome tweeter, which I think goes perfect with my Dolby Atmos surround sound setup. The white S 803's were hard as hell to come by. South Africa, being a third world country, didn't help either but I eventually got them after 5-6 months. 5.0.2 setup: Two S 803 Front (White) Two S 803 Back (Walnut) One S 83 Center (White) Two S 8 ATM (White) mounted on top of the front S 803's Couldn't be any happier! I had to sell my Yamaha surround system to buy these and they were worth every penny. Much much brighter and clearer than my Yamaha NS-F71 towers. Obviously the Yamaha's could go much louder being rated at 240 Watt but having the amount of clarity from the Jamo's is unbeaten in this price range. But don't get me wrong, these Jamo speakers still fill my very large living room with ease. Still busy saving up for the sub. I think the SVS SB 2000 would round off my system very nicely.

I saw your review of Jamo's S 803 and, of course, KZbin quickly linked me to this one as well. I uncharacteristically followed your advice to get these however possible if I found a pair. I immediately went to eBay and started searching. I found a "like new" pair of the C 103 in Walnut that was ending soon. I ended up winning the bid at $405 and I actually received them just before Thanksgiving. All I can say is, "Wow!, and that now I have a beautiful pair of these bad boys in my main home theatre setup. When listening to simple stereo in Pure Direct, I simply close my eyes and the artists are now transported into my living room for a private performance! These are absolutely amazing and need no subwoofer for stereo listening. Amazing sound and Jamo is now on my favorites list. :-) Oh, by the way ... on the same day I also went to the Jamo website and purchased a pair of the S 803 in Walnut based on your review and recommendation. Jamo shipped them immediately and I received them before Thanksgiving as well. Of course, these were brand new and needed break-in. But over the course of the Thanksgiving weekend, they really opened up and now ... Holy crap, these things are incredible! They have a magical, lush warmth in the bass and midrange, like what I love in Wharfedale Dentons ... but whereas Wharfedales are a bit laid back in the higher frequencies, the S 803 are incredibly lively and clear without being the least bit fatiguing. I have had a hard time taking them down so I could spend more time with the C 103s. Everything just sounds so freaking good! I don't know how Jamo does it, but I hope they never stop!" Thanks again, Z, and I hope your holidays are truly wonderful and blessed. Grateful regards - Pat

Just got a pair (in white!) from Crutchfield Scratch & Dent. I had to use a flashlight to even see the microscopic bit of bubbling of vinyl in one of the corners. It's a non-issue. They're beautiful. And they absolutely are worth every penny. I compared them to the Cambridge Audio SX-50s (also purchased because of a Z Review) and while the SX-50s come close in terms of clarity, certain songs just don't play as well. The Jamos are an oustanding all-around speaker. Every song I tested sounded great and I never felt they were lacking. I did come to appreciate just how good the Cambridge's are considering they're literally half the size of the Jamos. If you need a smaller bookshelf speaker the SX-50s are a good alternative for the same price, especially if you don't need all the bass. But the Jamo's... yeah. They win. Thank you, Zeos! I paid $229 plus tax for the HCS set. Well worth it. Using the 803 and surrounding sides, the center speaker and 2 new Klipsch loudspeakers. 5.0 setup with no desire for a sub. The 801s are great for iMac speakers. All 7 were about $700 with tax. The deals are gone now. 🙃

Reviewer mentions build quality of the S (studio) series is not as good as the C (concert) series. That is because the S series is the lower, less expensive series compared to the more expensive C series. It's not that they cheapened up the S series, it's just that it's the cheaper line. It's not a fair comparison to be making.

Finally arrived today from Amazon! Can't wait to try them tonight! Thanks Zeos! If anyone is still interested, Jamo.com has them in stock in all colors but they are $299 there. Crutchfield has them on Back Order for $199.
@gzamora255 жыл бұрын
@1badhorsie for $199 they are a steal. I can't compare them to other speakers but the closest are the Elac B6.2. The Jamos are more detailed because they have a V shaped sound but aren't bright. They sound just right. The Elacs have more bass but are less detailed. So it all comes down to preference. These speakers are very fun to listen to. They don't cause fatigue. They are punchy with nice highs. There are mids there too. They aren't flat but with a little tweaking you can raise the mids to your liking although i dont deem it necessary. If you love bass then you should add a woofer to it but if you are not crazy about bass which music shouldn't be bass heavy then these are perfect. If you want a fair review watch JoeNTell latest video on these. He gets right to the bottom of them but don't get it twisted. These speakers are great and very fun to listen to.
@corkydukeII58985 жыл бұрын
@@gzamora25 Yeah I saw Joe N Tell's reviews on the 803's too. He wasn't nearly blown-away on these as Zeos was.....but he DID like them though, and would probably be quite happy as his full-time speakers if he (Joe) chose that route.
@gzamora255 жыл бұрын
@@corkydukeII5898 That is correct. I understand the Elacs 6.2 are preferable in certain aspects and specially if you can get them for $150 but ill tell you what, looks do matter and if these Jamos are close to the Elacs i prefer the Jamos. I have them and they are delightful to look at. I have the complete set of these Jamos in White. 5 speakers (807 towers, 803 bookshelves and center S83) in total and my wife likes the look of them, didnt complain once about them. That's a plus for me. Plus i personally don't want a bunch of black boxes in my living room. To each their own but i dont like black speakers. I don't want boxes in my living room to begin with so if i can get nice looking white speakers and sacrifice a little in the sound aspect, i will opt for white speakers. These speakers are awesome specially at $199. And if someone cares about sound, Joe said these come very close to the elacs and it all comes down to preference.
@corkydukeII58985 жыл бұрын
@@gzamora25 Hi again. Very happy you're enjoying your 803's. Yes I suppose if a man has a woman in his life, and they have the 'say-so' of what gets approved inside the home, there's probably a good chance most women will take more of a liking to the 'white boxes' over the black. I guess they don't 'stick out' as much....not as intrusive with the decor. Yes Zeos says the 6.2's have alittle more bass, but it was a boring 'blah' bass (LOL) than the more dynamic bass of the 803's. I thought that was interesting how he put it. (I too was VERY VERY close to pulling the trigger on the 6.2's for $150, but thank goodness I was patient and chose the 803's instead!)
@gzamora255 жыл бұрын
@@corkydukeII5898 I hear you brother. You can't go wrong with these. According to JoeNTell the Jamos' bass is more punchy and the Elacs are not as tight but have more bass. So it comes down to what people prefer. If you have a sub, then this shouldn't even be an issue.

Went to audition these today (in stereo and 5.1) and thought I would share a few thoughts. In stereo they really are genuinely amazing for the price and really likeable - the bass really is as surprising as the video makes out - I honestly couldn't believe it!! Source as always is important - listened to some CDs and was delighted, some Tidal - also good but Bluetooth to the amp sounded weak (a MaiA stereo amp which doesn't seem well rated in any case)! In 5.0 it was a bit thin and when pushed (not that loud), the speakers started clicking, adding the sub to the setting but switching it off didn't repeat that?! The sub (S808) rounded out the 5.1 nicely. The (S81) centre was fine but unspectacular (I think I recall this being said somewhere in this video) and the rears (S801) sounded great. Need to check against something else to validate my thoughts on these.

Just received my pair and got them set up. Coming from kef q100s. Review below. Whether that's pleasant to you, or not is subjective..it is something I grew to appreciate. It's incredibly easy to follow an instrument from one side of the soundstage to the other. Imaging is much better, much better. Center image, all around the sound space feels very precise and accurate, much more so than the kefs, less sound stage though. As for bass, (I'm using an SVS SB-2000) if you're not utilizing a sub. Kefs dig a little deeper but volume dips a little under 60 hz. Jamos sustained db at 60 but dips dramatically right under where the Kefs produce low vol bass. Around 50 hz. Jamos still feel like they have MUCH more bite. I can feel the bass hit my (sub off) chest whereas with the Kefs I can't. At a desk. Bass is more detailed as with the rest of the freq range, forward, vs polite with the kefs. EDIT: added thoughts, bass is MUCH more detailed, hearing basslines around 60 hz I did not get at all with my kefs, much much more dynamic as well. Chest thumping bass with the jamos, nonexistent chest thump with the kef. Only improving with break in. Overall I would say that these Jamos have a much more nuanced while at the same more organic and natural sound than the kefs. Vocals are exactly as Z emotes them to be. These things sing! In summary, I'm astounded. Buy these before they're gone with the wind like every other Jamo. That being said, I bought two pairs, and one of the speakers rattled at around 60-50hz, maybe that's what you were hearing? The ports also chuff if pushed too hard, but in my room that's at a listening level that is beyond what I would consider deafening, and I play music so loud that my ears are sore at times after a session...

Man, I had the exact same reaction... I went into a music store to buy some vinyls and I saw them on a shelf... The colour made them stand out (white as I live in Italy) and so I asked if I can listen to them... And i was amazed, I bought them ASAP even though I have a pair of Klipsch RF82 speakers as main and daily runners.... I was kinda afraid or better I was skeptical about my opinion on them because I made a one on one with the Klipsch (which by the way are my favourite speakers PERIOD) So it was kinda the "I don't wanna admit it" thing but those Jamos keep up the pase like they do black magic voodoo shit 😍

I know this video is a year old but if your system sounds worse with a subwoofer then your setup isn't quite right. You'll probably need to adjust the crossover setting. Your speakers are able to handle a good amount of bass but your subwoofer can handle the lowest tightest bass you can feel or hear. The dynamics will also improve, plus a sub will put less strain on your jamo speakers.
