Love the information, and the ease of translation for those of us that aren’t as computer savvy. Also, having said that… holy cow this guy made a 7 minute video feel like three hours! Literally, I had to look around to see if had kids or grandkids while I was watching this video. It was like time dilation. I’m pretty sure I lived an entire second, third, and fourth life in the span of seven minutes! 😂😂😂 Really though other than falling asleep multiple times I really did appreciate the quality of the review!

I recently bought it, and screen/design/size ratio is simply one of the best I have seen in a laptop. The catch is that running some 3d programes or simply the heavenbench, the cpu temperature rises between 74-90 degrees, plus fan noises. in idle it goes usually on the 55-70s Even when is doing nothing after turning the laptop on barely you can see cpu under 50s. If i can´t down the temeperature surely I will return it.

Yeah these zephyrus models are definitely on the hotter side. They also run at a very aggressive CPU boost state which doesn't help. Thicker laptops like the scar 15 or the legion 5i pro I think run a bit cooler but don't look quite as slick.

@Weird_Quests
@Weird_Quests 2 жыл бұрын
@@victorortiz1651 basically - do the following. 1) update all your drivers - nvidia, armory crate, etc… 2) set the laptop into iGPU only + silent mode when doing productivity work (I get about 6-8 hours on this) 3) for additional battery life - screen brightness 50%, turn off RGB, turn off Animatrix animation on the shell, use windows battery saver - I get about 9-10 hours in this. 4) you could adjust cpu voltage (undervolting) by between -80 to -65 (but this depends on your specific die and copy of the cpu - some are better than others). 5) for productivity, I carry a 100w USB-C GAN charger for that extra boost When you want to do heavy renders/game - you’ll have limited performance and in between 1-2 hours of play - it will be best plugged in. But doing this allows you to get through most of a day when doing light work/watching KZbin and then through it into performance mode/turbo mode for max power (which it has in troves). There’s been a lot of testing on the i9 12900H variant and it can achieve m1 pro level of performance at lower power (when limited like above), but you will still be consuming more power than Apple Silicon.

As someone who's use case is primarily normal office work with a lot of travel and some gaming thrown in, based on your reviews I'm now leaning pretty heavily towards the M16, but from the comments you seem quite keen on the G15. I don't mind tinkering in the armory crate to get the noise to a manageable level, but the excellent 16:10 screen is rather appealing. Although the G15 and the efficient AMD chip sounds good too (especially if it runs reasonably OK with a 100W USB C for travelling light)
@WarneysWorld
@WarneysWorld 2 жыл бұрын
The M16 is a really good bet. I think armoury crate gives you enough control to keep the temps and noise respectable. I think the g15 will be a little better on this front and will have better battery life. I may be in the minority but I think I prefer the metallic feel of the G14/15 rather than the soft touch feel of the M16 but that's personal choice. I just think they feel more badass. As you say, the M16 display is waaaaaaay better. I'll see if I can get one in 👍🏻

I has been using the 2022 M16 for a month, here is my full review As person who does 3d design & engineering and doesnt game a lot, this laptop suit me really well It lighter than other laptop (-0.5 kg) and has a modern design instead of chunky gaming look with too much rgb. The 16:10 miniLED display is good af (no seam or dot like other panel) and the DCI-P3 100 with OSD make my 3d design work feel better 120w TGP instead of 150w and PD port allow me to survive whole day with a 120w adapter instead of heavy 240w Other minor benefits are Single hand open, KB feel like GT milky yellow, speaker sound quality is surprisingly smooth and clear also loud (to the point where it become my music speaker at night) Cons I found of this laptop are Easily hot during high load and severly loud fan Overall It really an all-in-one laptop, lightweight i9+3070ti+32gb and great display and speaker with a lot of port +build qulity and modern design If you want a heavy game machine, its better to go with strix15+3080 around the same price ($2500)

Great vid! Between this and the g14 which one would you go for? Im worried about the fan noise and heat management... I rather lose a bit of power for a quieter and better cooled device.
@WarneysWorld
@WarneysWorld 2 жыл бұрын
The G14 has much quieter fans and it runs way better on low wattage due to the AMD chips efficiency, so it's easier to manage heat. I think it's the more special of the two devices, although the M16, because of its size, does have better performance overall. If selecting the G14 you need to decide whether ray tracing and Dlss are important to you because if they are the AMD card is no good. In terms of portability I would say that most people will be just as happy carrying the M16 as they are with the G14. The G14 is smaller, yes, but once in a bag is there a significant difference? No. Thicker devices like the legion 5i pro or the scar15 will have cooler cases to touch and quieter fans than the M16 at the expense of not being as portable and not looking as nice.. I've also always found razer devices to balance performance, fan noise and heat really well, but they cost more (probably too much for what they are) and they dial back performance in favour of the user experience. With the exception of the new 17 that is. That thing is a monster this year.

Forgot to ask here: what screen would you prefer for lightroom/video editing? 4K Razer blade or 16 qhd+? How is the 4K razer blade screen quality wise when you lower the resolution to 1440p for gaming (more performance) ? Is this still sharp and not blurry? Thx in advance!
@WarneysWorld
@WarneysWorld 2 жыл бұрын
They are both fantastic for content creation but the 4k screen is better. Gaming at 1440p is fine for a lot of games (warzone, red dead 2) but it actually does pretty well at 4k. It's not great if you run it at 1440p AND use an upscaler like dlss. Then it looks bad. So, for cyberpunk you need to stick to 4k and Dlss performance (it looks great). The QHD display on the M16 is brilliant though and much better for gaming because it has a faster response. I wish razer had this screen because I prefer their laptops.

Thank you for watching. Yes the fan noise/heat balance is the big issue with this one. Asus could get this right if they did their homework. I think they take a one size fits all approach to armoury crate, which might be fine for a strix but not ok for a thin and light. There are a few options though. It's funny I was thinking the exact same thing. Worth remembering that the Ryzen chips are hot little cookies too, but they do much better on lower wattage, so even when they become thermally limited, you don't drop as much performance when the system reduces power. @@WarneysWorld Thanks for your reply, I appreciate your thorough and very informative message, the thing is that in our market we only have few options to choose from, g14 2022 isn't even available here for now and other options are also very few the other m16 with Core i7-12700H 12th Gen, RTX 3060 6GB Graphics 120W, 16GB RAM/1TB SSD is around £1900, is it too much for 3060 variant or is it a good deal?
@WarneysWorld
@WarneysWorld 2 жыл бұрын
@@Karan0o I think it's about right. I think it would be a great device with the 3060 but you would need to be ok with the 6gb vram. It's ok for most games but probably isn't as future proof as 8gb. My preference is the 3070 ti as a perfect combination of screen and hardware. It runs anything at 1600p including cyberpunk with RT on. Appreciate that regional availability is a problem for all of us right now though. I've just received a new razer blade 17 too and have been running a lot of tests. My feel at the moment is that these new devices are struggling with the heat from the new 14 core intel chips. So, if bought purely for gaming, I don't think there is much advantage (if any) over 11th gen. So if you, for example, can find a well priced 11th gen legion 5 pro 3080 be a much better value option. We are starting to see G15 2022 come available in the UK too, with 6900hs and rtx 3080 for £2200. It's seriously tempting in the context of the M16 pricing. If it was me, I'd probably lean towards the new g15 I think.

Great review! Even under relatively mild non-gaming loads (12-15 Chrome tabs + 3-4 PDF documents in Acrobat reader), the CPU temperature in the "silent" setting reaches 70 deg C (I have the I-7 +3050 TI version)). Even when the CPU temperature is lower (around 60 deg C), the keyboard region above the function keys feels pretty hot and it's the same is for a large part of the back. Is this something common across most compact laptops? Are you happy with the thermals? Do you suggest that I manually change the fan curves for better cooling? Also, what do you think of the front vents throwing hot air directly to the bottom of the 16:10 screen? Can you briefly tell how all do these affect the longevity of this otherwise compact and efficient laptop?
@WarneysWorld
@WarneysWorld 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah the temps on the CPU fluctuate a lot thanks to Armoury crate selecting the windows high performance power profile in the performance, turbo and manual modes. I wish they didn't do this because it makes the CPU boost like crazy all the time when it doesn't need to and generates a lot of heat. In windows mode you can set the performance profile to balanced which might help a bit. This is a characteristic of the laptop, and many others are similar. Some are better balanced than others. I can assure you that there is no problem for the CPU being this hot - it is well within its limits. I ran a razer blade 15 for 3 years at more than 90deg every day (gaming) and it is still fine today. I think the thermals of the M16 are fine. I tend to use it in silent mode when doing normal stuff and custom mode for gaming (I crank everything (including the fans) to max settings) and use headphones. I wouldn't worry about heat on the screen, I don't believe there have been problems with that setup since they started doing it a year ago.

Hey, I'm an university student and was looking for laptops to buy. I am confused between G14, M16 and g15. As per my comparison of each- G14 offers an all round package with better battery and portability but has only a 120 hz display. While g15 offers almost all the better features of g14 and M16, it has only a dim 300 nits brightness display(16:9). M16 on the other hand has everything I need, but as expected with intel, heats up a lot and also has a very bad battery compared to the other two (imp). Wanted your suggestions on which one might be a better choice for me, considering my requirements.

I'm also a university student and i mainly use laptop for video editing, coding and watching video. This laptop is capable of performing those tasks very fast and as far as temperature and fan issue, i dont have temperature issue unless i game or render 4k videos. I usually game when plugged in and so those aren't really the issue for me. For battery, i just switch my mux to intel graphics and lower the performance for more battery. I get around 7 hours battery with this laptop on low performance mode.

I would go with the M16 over the G15. The 3070TI and the 3080 are quite similar but the M16 has a way better screen. 12th gen intel pulls away from AMD on pretty much every application with the exception of battery life.

I have it for like 10 months.. can it be dust in the fans? Even thought these models have self cleaning fan system.. can someone please suggest me what should I look at regarding the hot temps on my gpu? I’ve been debating for about 3 or so weeks, what seems better, Zephyrus M16 vs G15. I mainly plan on gaming with it. I have so many mixed reviews. M16 Pros Better Screen and Bigger More powerful for games As of writing this actually available Cons Fans are much louder Runs hotter faster Potentially hurt the screen due to exhaust fans near screen Battery runs out faster What is your opinion on M16 vs G15? I don’t have a preference between Ryzen vs Intel. Just want best with gaming that would last me a while.
@WarneysWorld
@WarneysWorld 2 жыл бұрын
I lean towards the G15. I haven't fully tested one but I have used one from last gen and the 6000 CPS are definitely better and more efficient this year. The other big factor is price. In the UK the M16 with the 3070ti is £2600. The g15 with Ryzen 6800hs plus rtx 3080 is £2200. I think the 3080 will perform slightly better*, fans quieter, better thermals, better battery life, and for less money. The only drawback is the display, which I'm pretty sure will still be decent on the G15 anyway. *(I've done a back to back comparison M16 3070ti versus my 100w blade 17 and the blade comes out on top in all tests despite an inferior CPU and ddr4 ram)

I agree with the review very spot on. I am currently testing it out and I’m a little underwhelmed at the performance you get especially at a hefty $2100 price tag despite it having an i9 and 3070ti was very disappointing especially the 120 watts limit that it barely gets to see in most games on ultra setting the most it got was about 90 watts max . And for such a low powered gpu there’s a lot of heat produced, the fans in turbo mode are very loud which makes the extra 5-10 fps gain not worth it .my Alienware x17 r1 currently only 300$ more ,which is only 1 inch larger with a 17 inch screen compared to this 16 inch the heat management is much better it barely sees over 83 degrees and gets max gpu power of 140 watts with i7 ,3070 and it overpowers this machine despite it having the newest 12th gen cpu and 3070ti graphics card.

Yeah I feel a similar way but it is a very portable device that prioritises portability. I think the surprise for me is how much more impressive the blade 17 is in comparison. It's not much bigger but gives the full 175w on the GPU and it does it quietly. The M16 still gets hotter to touch. I thought the M16 was a real contender until the blade 17 landed on my desk. It's so impressive 👍🏻

There's a reason the Strix Scar exists. it's a touch thicker, but it's made more for pure gamers. MUCH better heat management and performance. The Scar 3070ti also pulls a full 150W.
