Just Brilliant Mate. It just goes to show that a CNC can be built and not spending a fortune on it :) Nice work.. Thank you for sharing... Great Initiative.

Where you wiring/connect the dc motor ? On the shield? Or external power and need to manually to switch on/off? Please reply

Nice build and excellent results. You should build a wooden stand for your glass engraving and add color leds to give a nice effect.

valveman12 many thanks my friend! I'm glad you like it! As for the stand..already built that! Used some ws2812b smd leds and it came out pretty cool..there's a vid about it here!

I have built a machine using your tutorial, i have loaded grbl into ardruino UNO, i have also downloaded Universal-gcode-sender application from github. Now my question is, if i want to send gcode to the machine, after jugging the machine to the top-right corner of the paper, how do i set that position as home? so that the machine knows where to start and where to stop? please give procedures. Thanks
@ZepLabs7 жыл бұрын
Stone Evans hey brother. It has all to do with the code you are gonna send..I don't use homing cycles on my machines ( for the moment) so "home" for the poor thing is whichever spot I decide to reset all Axis! Think of Gcode as a series of commands which goes like: "go 10 steps to the right slowly" "Now go 3 steps up" So lets say now you use easel to make something out of a piece of stock 1" x 1". You browse to the site, you type you are gonna mill a piece of walnut 1" by 1" and 15 mm high, you choose an icon of a beer that you want to mill in that piece of lumber, you set your desired depths and you are pretty much ready to go. Easel as a default uses the bottom left corner as an entry point. So you throw on the machine a 1"x1" piece. Wherever you like! It just has to be square with the table. You get your spindle at the bottom left corner and you reset all your axis. You can even unplug your usb and plug it back. Sure thing is you have to be looking at zeros to the right! In fact easel just lets you position your spindle where you have to and then you hit the run button. You dont have to reset anything. But I think you get my point. Home is any spot with X,Y,Z positions = 0 And you pick that spot each time relatively with where you put your entry point when writing your code, where you positioned your stock on the machine's plate etc Cheers..

HI, to power all the system you are using a power supply so how much V do you give to the shield? (On the shield is written 12-32V)
@ZepLabs6 жыл бұрын
Hey Saurav! This depends on your motors. I was feeding it with 12V, and I think that PS was good up to 4 Amps. Cheers!
@Moodie1117 жыл бұрын
Hey, pal. You should hang a 4-foot fluorescent light over your worktable. That would get rid of those dumb shadows you're casting on your project. Also, aren't you taking the risk of damaging that small motor by drilling into its shaft as it's turning? Wouldn't that put a strain on the motor's windings?
@ZepLabs7 жыл бұрын
Chris M yeah you sure have a point on that thought, but those motors also have some tiny little plastic gears built in..and they break in no time! But this cast resin is really a charm to drill, plus that I wanted the center! Ironically enough, this particular motor works like a charm to this day, but I had to replace the one on the X axis once (striped them gear teeth)... P.s. You are so right about the lighting , I have it on schedule.. Thanks mate!

What motor did you use and at what speed do you encarve?
@ZepLabs7 жыл бұрын
Its a hybrid brushless high efficiency motor, producing 0.000003 hp and capable of working anywhere between 4 - 33000 rp10m (rotations per 10 minutes). Naaaah I'm just messing with you! 😄 Its a random motor of ebay. It came with the chuck and the collets so it suited just fine! It works anywhere from 12 to 36 V if I 'm right. As for the speed, I plugged it to a 12 V power supply I had on hand and it wasn't exactly fast ! Around 3k rpm I believe. I hope that plugging it on 24 will give me a better revving ....

Hi, I was searching for this for a long..it's realy pactible and cheap CNC to make and turn out amazing! Congrats!. I really got inspired to make my own one and I was whatching some videos of the laser and encarving in the descriptions and i found the file of the LaserGRBL which i have download it and i am trying to put it on arduino but i can't figure it out how you done it because are 2 files and so if you can tell me how i can put the code on arduino i will be really thankful. And the laserGRBL codes are the the code of arduino to make the laser cnc and for encarving you use a different code? I really want built it thank you so much for the help.
