My main and really only issue with crafters and gatherers is that the inventory system is so bad and slow that I can’t imagine adding even more items to it to manage. If they fixed the inventory system and I didn’t need to spend extra money for more bank slots then I would spend much more time diving into the crafting system.
@trignite2 жыл бұрын
This. The inventory system is really bad, and there are so many items you will aquire in your bags that aren't obvious what they are used for or how important/expensive they are. They really need to stop adding as many materials, maybe reduce/combine some. And make a bag specifically for materials.

It's only really bad during the leveling process. By the time they're maxed, you have a decent idea of what's worth keeping and what isn't. (and the number of things worth keeping goes down significantly if you have gatherers; no point holding onto something if you can just go out and get it)

My favorite crafting story is weaver 1-50. It has romance, comedy, life advice, and glams for the rest of your game to 90. Also my advice for all kinds of crafters and gatherers: *keep you gear up-to-date!* Otherwise with the increasing power requirements it will be a slog of truly epic proportions - so, if any piece of your gear lags behind by more than 10 levels craft something that's current. That's how you can enjoy crafting & gathering.

For stories: I liked ARM 1-50 and WVR 1-50 a ton. For you Ishikawa stans out there, she also wrote ALC 1-50 and it shows by the themes. (There's also a cute story flag if you finish BSM 50-60 job quests before the PLD 60-70 job quests.) I also do recommend the Crystarium (ShB) and Studium (EW) quests if you like the game's story, as both of those tie into the main expansion story VERY well. Levelling goldsmith with mining was going great and I became a level 50 miner. But then to become a level 50 goldsmith I needed some black oyster pearl from fishing. I then realized those useless feathers I was discarding I would actually need for fishing lures. I haven't done any land or hand jobs since.

If you are looking to level only one gatherer and one crafter I recommend Culinarian and Botanist. They are a fairly self-sufficient combination, when other crafters are very reliant on materials from other crafters. The crafting and gathering in this game is one of the few I actually enjoy as it's not "click object and wiat, or click on button in menu and wait." But there is actually fun gameplay mechanics going on. So many times I say to myself "Today I shall progress the story." I've never been much of an MMO player, but I gave FF14 a genuine shot before and after Stormblood (two separate phases, trying out multiple characters until I settled on a Viera Conjurer/White Mage). I discovered that I really love the crafting system. I even taught a longtime player (an old friend of 20+ years) how to do the crafting because he didn't get it or the appeal for it (he had multiple high-level adventuring characters with oodles of money); he actually ended up enjoying it once he caught on. My Viera White Mage (who I really wanted to get to Red Mage because that's been my favorite Job since FF1) ended up becoming a higher level Weaver and Leatherworker than her primary adventuring job; gear was always as up-to-date as possible for all three jobs. She also had some Carpentry (mostly to keep my Conjurer/White Mage gear upgraded) and Culinary levels (because I discovered food items to be pretty useful, even for crafting). The only thing was that I sometimes had to go adventuring to restock certain materials, or at least get more money to buy said materials from the marketboard. I always tried to put up HQ products for sale at reasonable prices because I wanted to give other casual players a chance to pick these items up (not to mention make a little money for more materials). Although it's functionally the same, the Gatherer jobs are not as fun only because I have to remember where to go for specific materials, and I don't want to play with a guide open the whole time. But I did give Botany a legitimate shot. And a little Mining. I dunno if I'll return for a third play "phase" anytime soon, though. TL;DR Basically playing FF14 to simulate working multiple day jobs, occasionally moonlighting as a healer role.

I like to do Levequests, especially the large (10 allowances per set of turn-ins) levequests in Ishgard until you hit level 80. If you are under Road to 80, you can get up to 48 million exp for a set of turn-ins. That equates to several levels in one shot. Don't be afraid to ask an omnicrafter to help out, several of us do enjoy helping others (with a little help on the materials costs).

Thanks for the vid Zepla, inspires me to pick up some lazy options I have neglected after reaching 90. I loved the leveling quests. Hated the mind numbing firmament power crafting. But so fast leveling. The ShB and EW quest were a welcome distraction. Also Leves at 80+ work wonders to reach 90 fast. And I liked the buy bulk method, craft what you need and more. And then sell the rest for profit so leveling doesn't cost you anything. Gathering was alright to. Tho diadem was mind numbing as well. Didn't do that as much. Did like the collectable runs over all the zones. Fisher didn't touch yet, cause I hated the randomness when I picked it up. But didn't understand you could do ocean fish or just buy quest items at the MB. Gonna pick it up soon now. When I reached max lvl I got overwhelmed with high end crafting. I wanted to make all my own gear, but the tediousness and grind of all the HQ components quickly made me hate high end crafting. So now I just do lazy crafting, make money where I can and just buy the armor that I need from MB. I want to use 80 and lower crafts to make money, cause of that immensely powerfull HQ in one press skill: "Facepalm beard guy" Now I'm doing tribals for mounts. Didn't want to de weekly scrip runs, cause I had everything I wanted. But didn't get the glams. And forgot you can materia farm for money. So I think I'll pick up weekly scrips again.

If you're up for a challenge but never got into crafting for one reason or another, trying your hand at Expert crafts might get you hooked. Consistently making high rating Expert crafts can be more challenging than a lot of battle content, and the rewards/feeling of accomplishment is huge! Being apart of the small group of people that understood how to make the Water Otter parts on launch on my server (with minimal losses) netted me like 10m gold a day for about 30 minutes of investment. The crafting relics (especially the Skybuilder's set) look dope as well; my Skybuilder's alembic turns heads pretty frequently because of the dragon particle effects. Never having to talk to an NPC to repair your gear is also HIGHLY convenient. For gathering it's not as much of a challenge as much as it's a knowledge check. Once you understand how the different nodes work (and use a convenient resource like Garland Bell or Teamcraft), you kinda just get whatever you want whenever you want it without much thought. It's also ESPECIALLY handy that whatever you've added to your gathring log can be gathered by your retainers via ventures, largely sidestepping time based requirements, will little exception. Farming gathering materia on patch release is also MEGA lucrative and SUPER hands off once you understand it. Fishing is also dank as hell. Outside of Ocean Fishing, it's the jankiest, least apparent, time consuming piece of content in the game (if you want it to be), and I ADORE IT. It's not for everyone, but at least knowing how the lures work for weekly deliveries can save you TONS of time getting gathering scripts, which are much harder to get than crafter's scripts in my opinion. It's also one of the best way to farm aethersand (a crafting material that is ALWAYS useful) because the fish that can be broken down into aethersand aren't timegated like the nodes. It's also just a really good fishing minigame with a lot of depth, and the titles are HUGE flexes. Crafting and Gathering isn't additonal contnent, it's primetime, just like dungeons, raids, and trials. It's alright to have preferences, but if you completely skip the DoH and DoL classes, you're legtimately missing out on like 1/3rd of the game, including all of the easy to get rewards, and the great additional narratives. Alchemist is the best crafter-gatherer storyline by a MILE, by the way. It's not even close

If you haven't hit max level in a War/Magic job yet, the Gatherers at high enough level can be a way to scope out entire new map zones ahead of your WoL quest lines. It doesn't work everywhere, but being able to scope out areas under Sneak can be very useful.

I first leveled my gatherers. Months later I finally decided to level crafters. I did all 8 of them at once taking advantage of the fact that crafting recipe needs mats from other crafter jobs and being able to gather everything myself with gatherer jobs. I only spent pennies for teleportation basically. I was also farming white scripsthrough collectable recipes while leveling so I could also get all the expert recipe crafting books. Last step was to craft my own endgame (pactmaker) gearset, that was also quite a ride as I had to first craft a lower set, overmeld that set just so I could reach stats tresholds. It was an excrutiating few weeks but once all of this was done I never felt so free in this game. I can now easily craft my own gear/food/potions/glam/furniture and that alone made it worth it. I'm no longer held hostage by marketboard gouging prices.

For years I have played quite a bit of mmo and for almost 19+ years I have played Lord of The Rings Online, and I can say that the Crafting system of FF14 is truly incredible and strangely "Fun" from what I have been able to experience,crafting is usually a part that gets lost as the expansions progress and unfortunately also mostly becomes outdated and useless, but in FF14, I feel that everything I craft is useful and rewarding not to mention the aesthetics of per se objects that even the piece of level 1 armor you wear is aesthetically very beautiful to look at, and above all "Jewels have aesthetics!" something that doesn't exist in many MMOs and jewels are just an icon in the equipment, but they can't be seen aesthetically on the characters, not to mention the infinite number of master recipes and outfits that you can craft, I find it incredible, I'm only at 50% -60 with crafters now and just with the basic recipes I can craft many beautiful things.

I hated myself and decided to level all of my gathers and crafters at the same time. It took me awhile to do that. I honestly did it the hard way because I didn't realize I could turn materials in to my Grand Company, do Levequests, or Ishgaurdian Restoration. I only started it because I really wanted the Fat Cat minion from Fisher retainer without paying the Fat Cat minion price. Now, I love fishing. It is the true end game extreme. I will say the Omicron Gather tribe end hits different after you go back and fight in the lvl 90 dungeon at the end of 6.0.

Cooking is Love, Cooking is Life. Besides that, fishing and the ocean endeaver content is actually fun. Its a bit much time gated for me but once you build it into your daily or whatever routine it is nice to casually do.

I actually leveled up my crafting and gathering classes to 50 before I got any of my combat classes past 20. However I did have my son help me by dropping a million gold on me. However since I can craft high quality equipment for all my characters, that's usually the best equipment for any level with melding. Sometimes the dungeon drops are better, but not often. I recommend blacksmithing and goldsmithing first because you can create most tools and weapons with the first, and the second is the one you'll use the most for boosting all your crafting stats. But tbh I recommend doing them all at once. As you level them up there's a lot of synergy. Also, get retainers as soon as you can and level one botanist and miner. If you can pay for it, an adventurer and fisher helps too. But those will keep you from having to farm as much. The crafting quests are all really cute. The goldsmith and weaver are the cutest. The leather and armored are the most schadenfreude satisfying.

I'm constantly wandering off to level crafting instead of the next msq quest, I just love the progression, and I'm looking forward to getting all crafters and gatherers to 90 (I'm not sure I'll do that any time soon for all Disciple of War/Magic jobs xD ) Gathering is easy, it just needs you to travel, and all the crafting jobs work the same with similar buttons. I like the crafting systems, even on console without any knowledge of what a macro is. Thanks for a grate video, this was fun!

I love crafting and gathering in 14. Especially making my own gear! Seriously, though - I honestly recommend leveling crafters and gatherers as one goes along through the game. Makes it feel much less overwhelming and also keeps your non-main gear at or around the same level as your main job.

As a Relic mongrel. Custom Deliveries are very nice to do as a weekly for crafter/gatherer scripts to get the crystal sand for a Heavensward Relic.

Along with the tribe quests for the crafter/gatherer tribes, maxing out rep for all the tribes in an expansion gives access to another few story quests to get to allied reputation. Those stories so far have been pretty fun as well. (I've done Allied in ARR and Heavensward, and am about to get Allied in Stormblood)

Thank you so much for this. I'm still a sprout, just finished SB and my son keeps saying I should craft and won't tell me why. I'm still on the fence and you've given me inspiration to investigate a little more

Most importantly, ask yourself why you're crafting. If you're in it for the glams, minions, or furniture, you don't have to worry about the HQ system. Don't panic and think you need to pentameld your gear because your Omnicrafter friend says it makes you 'better'. I have yet to find a recipe for glams and furniture that could not be completed by vendor-purchased gear, no HQ gear required. I've seen potential crafters burn out fast because someone says they need those HQ gears and pentamelds, and it's not worth it unless you are doing current content on max ilvl gear and food/potions. (Disclaimer: Does not apply to Expert crafts.) You can level faster with the engineering manuals, but they will appear to have a deception in them. They will say something such as "150% boost to exp (up to 250,000), effect halved above level 40". That only means above level 40, the effect becomes +75% instead of 150%; you will still get the full 250,000 exp, it just takes longer to burn it up. So if you have them laying around, they're not trash just because you exceed the level listed. Abuse the working class! Talk a high level crafter into making you HQ items for Levekits, and you can take a crafter from 15-60 in an hour if you are dedicated. You need a lot of inventory space (unless you're leveling CUL), or convince your crafting friend to hang out at the leve target to keep trading you items. Offset the teleport costs by buying tickets with those sweet Blue Mage Seals. Ala Mhigan Earring, if you have one, does apply its +30% to crafting jobs up to level 50. Exp boost earrings after that do not work on DoH/DoL. So an engineering manual with GC seals you have laying around, plus earrings, plus vendor purchased food, is +183% exp gain. Turbocraft into the ninth dimension.

I managed to crafts/gather during free trial. glad I max them (so far) which makes it exciting because you have to find those items since marketboard is not accessible during free trial

I did the dwarf crafting quests just so I could get the Lali Hop, since that's one of my favorite dances. I don't really enjoy crafting/gathering that much, but sometimes it's really nice as a way to chill out in-game.

Casuals, I 50ed all Crafter's and Gatherers before I finished ARR and the tribal quests are next. I honestly love all the side content, but I can't help getting distracted by it. Maybe by the time I reach Endwalker there are 3 more expansions lol

Does anybody know anything about the "super classy vest with a tie" glam reward that Zepla mentions with regards to custom deliveries (12:17)? I have never heard of it and can't find *anything* about it.

You get it as a reward after going through the Custom Delivery story for Ameliance post-Endwalker.

I gotta look into this moogle even thingy. My highest lvl class is only 76, is that an issue?
@Caterfree102 жыл бұрын
Moogle Tomestone events work by giving special tomestones as rewards for marked content. MSQ roulettes are always part of the marked content alongside other dungeons, raids, etc. As long as you’re past ARR’s story, you can farm tomestones and get the gear. o7

Pre Endwalker I had CUL to 80 for the ability to meld. Took FSH from 1 to 81 in 2 days for the Omicron quests. Finally last month I decided to level my other crafters to 80 to be ready for Loporrits. Took me about a week to take the other 6 crafters from 1 to 80. I never thought I would enjoy it but Surprise! It was a ton of fun.

Best reward I got from Crafting and Gathering was reaching Saint of the Firmament in Botany during the last Ishgard Restoration ranking season, still working towards it but my end goal is to eventually get the Pterodon mount. Especially right now where we are waiting for 6.3 and there isnt as much to do working through crafting and gathering can be something to fun, the stories are great and there are a lot of cool rewards for different things and other than Pterodon nothing in crafting and gathering is really that difficult to do.
