Another superb lesson .. Growing up as you say surrounded by the world of Guitar magazine & player fans of music & in the states USA .. You probably don't know that over here in England ( I am scots / Irish ) The Press & even the music press were not really kind to led Zep .. hard to imagine but true .. They would tour America to sold out stadiums & adoring fans only to return to Dreary grey wet England terrible reviews .. If You ever get the chance to talk to Pino Palladino who I knew as a chum back in Cardiff He used to play Twin neck Gtr in a covers band & they were playing stairway to heaven live within a week of the albums release .. The band called Trapper .. were all brilliant a 5 piece so two gtrs but this was B4 Pino changed to Bass .. if you meet him he will tell you Led Zep were still almost an Underground cult band in the early days at least .. he is a lovely guy & a superb musician Pino .. But back then Led Zep would not give interviews especially Jimmy to the ordinary press .. preserving their mystique & only Bob would sometimes chat to press .. To fans All the band were nice .. But back then people used to take the Top Ten Gtr player list more seriously .. The idea that Ritchie Blackmore was better than Jimmy ... well it all seems laughable now But Jimmy who as I am sure you know invented the Band & once they were a band they changed music forever in lot's of ways .. To be slighted for having gone soft & turned acoustic on the 3rd album I know that made Jimmy decide to Blow them all away .. It's only because I am so old that I can remember theses things & perhaps explain in some kind of context .. Why after the 4th album & Tour some of the guys ended up in morroco etc & moving thru Kashmir .. by the way Jimmy used to leave his shirt open all the way & wear his gtr really low .. Lol but I don't think he had such lovely shoulders .. well not to me anyway .. altho he was then will always be one of thee guitar Gods .. We now know him as the intelligent power behind the throne he always was .. Love ya bye

i played this wrong for 25 years, until "It's about to get loud" came out.. for the 1st time i actually realized and cared enough to research and play it right.. for years i faked it in standard well enough to please drunks at bars and at weddings.. but once i started getting it really right, i then was pleased.. and started packing an extra guitar tuned in DADGAD to my gigs.. bravo you sweet, sweaty, and MILFy as hell redhead guitar god..

Hey Gretchen Menn can You give me your personal advice about that i just have a classic guitar that uses Nylon strings at the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd strings. I like D'Addario Pro Arte Nylon Core Silverplated Wound Hard tension EJ46 strings. But i just got a cheap kind of fragile classic guitar. So i play a Lot of rock from classic rock until heavy metal and Grunge and Punk Rock. Since last week i bought the Chrome Slide and i already learned to play " In My time of dying" from your amazing video tutorial, also i learned from you "When the levee breaks" on Standard tuning which i'm stoked that i love playing the solos with the Slide. And i'm learning how to play "Traveling Riverside Blues" in Open G. So My question it's what tensión of strings should i get to dont make in the guitar neck any damage and to change the tunings from standard tuning to Open G tuning or Open A ir Open De, etc..., Without breaking My strings? Should i get D'Addario Pro Arte Nylon Core Silverplated Wound Hard tension EJ46 strings or should i get D'Addario Pro Arte Nylon Core Silverplated Wound Medium tension EJ45. Just in case i'm not a beginner! I played good but not as good like you do but i'm not a beginner and i'm not a pro neither

genius level how you figured out alternative tuning on guitar for kaschmer song also i think you have perfect pitch you can hear a song and you can play the song after you hear the song also you have a nice aura around you a clm smart person aware of what you doing at all times its good that way to be aware

I did it in (mostly) standard for awhile, too! Just dropped the low E to D, but DADGAD reaaaaally makes it all come together. You'll love it once you try it!

I like how you talk about how you 'interpret' the meter rather than 'argue' or 'debate' about the meter. Personally, I interpret the meter as being in 6/4. This interpretation allows the backbeat of the drums to fall on the even beats (2,4,6) while it also allows the music to be based in groups of three 16th notes so the meter doesn't have to be written differently for drums and guitar/bass/keyboards/vocals. As I interpret it, the song is in 6/4. Great lesson! I will watch the other episodes of this lesson and hope you cover that melodic fill in lydian mode. In fact, that is something amazing about this song: what mode is it in? It is in many modes at once! Kind of like the song "Friends" and "Dancing Days." Do you know what I mean, Gretchen? Love you!

Well i tunned My classic guitar (nylon strings) in D-A-D-G-A-D tuning to play this magical song. And there is vídeo of them lately of Robert Plant and Jimmy Page playing Kashmir an egyptian orchestra and since they were playing with an egyptian orchestra and playing the egyptian scale on some parts of the song and let me tell you that sounds really good . And i do the scale mixing the G egyptian scale. With the A egyptian scale and it fits well to me. I would like to know your opinion about it and also which other scales do You think Will sound really good with Kashmir in D-A-D-G-A-D tuning? Thank you and keep rocking out!

Polymeter or polyrythm? Not `hundred percent clear the (subtle) difference, and I have often heard that at least different time sigs are overlayed in LZ-K. Many other examples of this as well. Key I think is the actual bpm. Polyrythm that each MEASURE must be the same time, so you have 54 over 44, makes for very interesting sync mels counter mels etc.

thanks for the video! wait so talking about the descending line on that starts on the high strings down on the 12th fret, how could you call that chord a G5? G5 means only Gs and Ds but i see Gs Ds and As. So i think we can call it a D sus 4 ( D being the root, A being the 5th , and G being the 4th.) Or we can call it a G Sus 2,( G being the root, D the 5th and A the 2) . The next chord is right tho thats a D! But then the next chord is F5? cant be we got a D, F,A and C, we can call that a Dm7 maybe?
