JCM - Led Zeppelin Stories

Күн бұрын

Three albums and perspectives of Zeppelin, Manic Nirvana, Bonham and Dread Zeppelin's Un-Led-Ed. This is the story of Robert Plant's venture into loud rock and roll, Jason Bonham's band debut and Dread Zeppelin's parody of Elvis and classic rock chants blend together in the vein of Zappa. 1989 was the closing chapter for a very productive decade for Plant, Page and Jones, winds of change made the miracle of bringing down the iron curtain and Berlin was the epicenter of freedom. Old ideas crumbling, new hopes for a better world.

The deeper I search, the more I've realized, Jimmy is so much more comfortable playing with Bonzo. I truly believe that If Bonzo was around, we would have different WORLD of music!!

Yes Matt, John Bonham and Jimmy Page were destined to play together, it was really a match made in England. The 80s would have been so much different with Bonzo nevermind the 90s with the classic rock revival!

@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories I'm definitely looking forward to that but hopefully you can find out a good reason they left JPJ out. I remember them saying " oh, it's because we want to move on from the past" then did walking into clarksdale followed by a bunch of money making tours where they played nothing but Zep. Poor JPJ.

I'm so glad you have been fighting the copyright monster. Doing that over and over would drain me and I would give up chasing the dream of telling this incredible story. Overall this has to be the ultimate study of Zep in a timeline where the members were drifting in and out of the limelight. There's material you have dug up that lots of people would never have found. Jason's counting in on drums is identical to his dad, it's beautiful.

Yes, Jason's counting reminded me of Bonzo so much. Despite his limited chops in his 20s, he HAD his Father's heart, and that is more than most Zepp tribute drummers can aspire to you know? Oh my goodness. I'm remain in awe of your hard work doing this project. I don't believe anyone else has ever done this. Not like this! Excuse me while I grab my jaw off the floor! The end of an era for real. 1989-1990 seem to be forgotten in my opinion. It was such a great time for music and the remaining three members of Led Zeppelin survived it. They're still here too and that's quite comforting. Great and wonderful archives of Jason Bonham who has to be one of the luckiest men on Earth. I did see Bonham, along with Dangerous Toys, open for The Cult in St. Louis, Missouri Jan 1990. I may have already mentioned it but I'll always remember this older woman dressed to the nines with diamonds on her fingers just fist pumping to the music. I thought, "I wanna be just like her when I grow up". Diamonds optional🙃 I'll try and become a Patreon in the near future. It will be well worth to see what your next project will be whether it's another band or more of the same, I'm here for it. Cheers!

@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories I guess you were probably 2 or 3 when I saw them live lol. All 3 bands were good and loud. I was impressed how well and focused he played on the drums. I just became a Patreon! I did see the Celebration Day concert and it was really amazing to see the band's reaction to Jason's performance. Only Jason could be the official drummer. Anyone else would not do. I have a musician friend who worshipped LZ. He went to see Bonham in TX I think and met Jason in a bar. He said he told all kinds of road stories, Zep stories, stories about his father. I actually got to ask Robert Plant a question on Rockline back in ' 83 when he was promoting "The Principle of Moments". I was one of the last callers. I had ordered a copy of it on CD but my question didn't either make it on the CD or it might have not aired because after RP answered my question, I went into this trance and I came out of it when he said, "well do you?" I asked him what the song "Pledge Pin" was about. I had to think of something lol. When I met Def Leppard on a few occasions I didn't get weird lol. Joe Elliot came up to me at the bar when I ordered drinks and asked me a personal question twice. I was 19 and I was shocked and bashful at the same time and giggled, "hee hee hee stop it"! Everyone in the band and their crew laughed at my reaction. They were really nice to me and my friends though.

You shot an arrow through my heart at the end with that Phil Collins song. Here’s a story about me and that song. When I was 16 our mall had a recording booth where you could record yourself singing to a song. And the operator of that recording booth had a whole catalog of songs. So one day, I went in and recorded Take a Look at Me Now. The mall ran a singing contest based on submissions from that recording booth. I submitted my tape. And surprisingly, I got a spot in the contest. It was amazing and while I didn’t win, it was a memorable experience. Jose, thank you so much for this series. There’s been a lot of laughs and some tears. Maybe a middle finger or two at the TV. But this has been the best and better not be the last we hear from you my friend. Thanks so much for this spectacular work. You rock 🎸🎶🎸🎶

Thank you for your support all the way thru Episode 15. I have good news, Season 3 is coming soon, working hard to get new material up and running! Thank you for these great episodes. My soul yearned for them as it brings closure to my love of my childhood heroes, Led Zep. Dread Zeppelin was such a novelty act that it was more about poking fun at all the 80s hairband ripoffs of Zep than zep itself. I think Percy was tired of watching bands like Great White singing "Babe, I'm gonna leave you" and was tickled when Tortelvis showed up. I remember Percy's concerts in the late 80s of him wearing a dred zeppelin t-shirt onstage. Pagey didn't get the humor. Jose, God bless you, young man. I hope you keep it going for the 90s.

They say the music of before is far more popular then the music of today even with the younger generation. I have watched reaction videos and see these young people of high school to 30s who hear Led Zeppelin for the first time and are blown away. They keep saying they wished they were around in the 70s and 80s to be part of this music. Jason Bonham, while being his own man and forging his own music still is a part of Zeppelin and he is connected to his dad and loves him even though he is gone. When I've seen the members of Zeppelin on their own 2 things come to mind. They are trying so hard to be future forward but, seem at the same time lost. Bands that are shown with Plant just don't seem up to snuff. Even not really wanting to get the band back together Robert Plant along with the other two are at their best when Jason Bonham does the drums. Just like the bands that came after Zeppelin. They wanted to be like them but, had no clue what Zeppelin was about and why they were so great. The Johnny come lately types were like in preschool trying to be like their college brother. They were over glam, over produced and lacked the muscianship and creativity of Zeppelin along with Zeppelin's knowledge of and love of old english lore, fantasy tales and writing ability that was like poetry. The pale imitators fell away and are not remembered where Zeppelin is still remembered and loved and getting new admirers with every new generation that discovers them.

JCM, great stuff as usual. You asked me about the Zep 4 CD boxed set I have. Led Zeppelin 4-compact disc set. Produced by Jimi Page. Digitally remastered by Jimmy Page and George Marino at Sterling Sound, New York, in May 1990. Includes a 36 page information booklet with complete track by track credits, three essays, and discography. This is a whole lot of love for a mere Rush fan to take in. Take care, sir, you bring a wealth of knowledge combined with your own accomplished playing.

This is not just the best channel on Zeppelin. It is the best channel on rock music on KZbin. Thanks for all your hard work. I came of age during grunge and I remember buying that four disc crop circle set in the store. When I was a teenager in the 90s my friends and I didn’t really see a difference between grunge rock and 60s/70s rock, including big groups and garage rock. When Page and Plant toured together it was like the second coming. Perfect timing. PS I saw Dread Zeppelin once, drunk out of my mind with my friends, so much fun!

As I’ve said on your other videos, as a fellow professional musician, I love that this is looked at from a musician’s point of view. BRAVO JOSE!!! This is the best work I have ever seen done on the subject! Always something new, always something personal, always done with respect and honesty! That, is difficult to do! I loved every second of it, even though this period of time was not my favorite period of time, I kept coming back for your original ideas and presentations that were done in a way that kept my interest. You are a very clever boy indeed! You put a spell on me, and it forced me to continue to be intrigued and I am not easily impressed. These are the types of presentations that many of the "main stream" music channels just can't seem to get right. The count is endless of "biographies" that are done in such a meaningless way, filled with similar sounding background music that is just God awful! It appears that there is a way of getting around those awful types of presentations, by using cunning, skill and persistence! Something that most of the other channels have no plan of ever involving themselves with, that would be too much work! This is ambition and passion exemplified, and the result has been magnificent! I can't say thank you in a meaningful enough way, but thank you Jose just for being around! There are not enough people in the world like you that do things simply to satisfy a goal, and just to make people happy. Thanks Jose!
@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories
@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories Жыл бұрын
Hehe, wow, i am honored really, THANK YOU! You know as someone has watched a lot of those biographies you mention, i am usually dissapointed not at the technical side of things as they have great gear and such to produce them, but at the CONTEXT of the story. They miss out on the details, the other day i saw one on Woodstock with freaking Nu Metal in the background i was like dude seriously lol. From my musician experience working on my solo albums i can tell you, it's down to the willingness to "complicate" things, my personality likes obsessive detail in things, when i immerse myself into something i just enjoy it so much. At work for example, i have always been the right guy for repetitive tasks that make most go nuts, for me it keeps me focused and the sense of pride i take in performing them. So video editing and storytelling is me reconnecting with a very important part of myself. To read your comments and everbody else's appreciation of this, makes my day in ways i can't describe. Music as an art form needs attention to detail, context and love to be properly used as one of Earth's most powerful tools of communication. From here, i am up to keep going, Season 3 is coming up. I found a very special project in these, my girlfriend and close friends are happy i found other "crazy folks" like me that want to break down history in chapters and thoughts. CHEERS TO THAT!
