Technically the only “tricks” are psychology, a lot of people get into a comfortable routine of eating a lot so you need the motivation to change your routine long enough to make your new routine comfortable.

Ideas for a 2nd coming of this challenge: You have to get as close to 0 calories in difference as possible. For every 50 calories away from the 0 you have to do a forfeit and yes they add up. So if you are 151 calories over or under it you would have to do 3 forfeits. You can either just prepare equally bad forfeits and then blind pick as many as you have to do or prepare forfeits that get worse the higher the difference is. But here is the twist: You are only allowed 3 times to look at the difference with the last time being at least 3 hours before the day is over. So you can't adjust at the last second.
