What is the predicted price of the mella?
@quadlawnmowerman3 жыл бұрын
@@whokapillar6111 Early bird is $349USD or $480 normally, pretty ridiculous price for something that does not work and still way too high a price for something that does.... this must be a joke product, is it April fools day?
@gregmcb53052 жыл бұрын
Honestly with the cost of this thing at the moment it needs to be three times bigger (longer) it won’t increase the production cost in the end that much, and i will 100% guarantee you that you will have more people willing to pay for it, at the size it is right now it does not make sense pricewise for 99% of the people interested in the product, I understand why you made it small. You are trying to make it a “countertop product” that you can set and forget, but if you’re going to set it and forget then it doesn’t need to be on the kitchen counter, and if someone is going to spend this much money on a fruiting chamber they will not want it to be as small as it is at the moment, people will find the space to put it somewhere else.
@gregmcb53052 жыл бұрын
@@quadlawnmowerman I wish, there was some terrible product design going on here, not only should it cost a fraction of the price but it should be much bigger. If it’s much bigger than the price makes more sense. My guess a lot of this comes down to temperature control. I’m tempted to design a much better one of these... that is way less complicated and functionally just as effective for99% of the people using it.

Anyway, At the end of August, I ordered a Lion's Mane kit and to be honest, didn't expect much I figured if I were lucky, I'd maybe get a few small ones and that would be it. I'm just starting my third flush and have harvested 2 pounds already. I'm hooked. I didn't think it would be this easy. I will continue to grow mushrooms as well as my micorgreens and I want to try other species of mushrooms . Your Mella grow chamber looks like something I'm going to want!

The hard part is finding a reputable company to trust, one that accepts responsibility, responds to emails within a timely manner, (not 10-12 days later), knows how to pack fruit blocks against damage in transit, etc. Three companies I have ordered kits from, all 3 have failed, one of which you have listed. It has been a huge hassle for me as well as others, same story. Very, very disappointing. Everyone talks about how important sterility is with mushrooms, and I agree, until one orders something, then told it doesn't matter. So far, everything I have been taught I certainly do not see when I purchase the blocks - like fully mycelated. At best, blocks I have been getting are half, and the bags are so big it is near impossible for the mushrooms not to sprout in all the air pockets of the extra bagging, and or they come with green mold already. Supposed to throw contaminated blocks out, but instead, asked to wait to see if the mushrooms will outdo the mold? So much conflicting information. Wish I never started, and especially wish I didn't share the sites with so many because their experience was the same. I have enjoyed your information that you have shared, as well as mushroom Mike (who set the standard for me on what to expect from my blocks). With the videos you guys share, it is fun learning, but then ....

Is there an option for fan speed as opposed to fresh air? Or perhaps they could make the fan speed really low by default? The fan speed, or speed at which fresh air comes in is much less important than maintaining the actual level of fresh air. Feel like it's really inconvenient to have spots in the mella that produce worse results, but PROTOTYPES. I'm sure you've let them know, anyway

Hey there! I wanted to start a mushroom culture with my girlfriend, and we trusted ourselves enough to skip the growing-kit part and start directly with a shot-gun style fruiting chamber, and we wondered if we could reuse the mycelium-contaminated susbtrate to grow other mushrooms. We would let the mycelium fruit for 2-3 flushes and then let it completely colonise the substrate, to do some kind of mycelium block at the bottom of the container. We would then use that substrate instead of colonised grain to restart another culture. Do you think it would be possible to do so? If not, why? Thanks!
@PandoraChaser2 Жыл бұрын
You probably figured it out via experimentation but apparently you can indeed do such with old fruiting blocks. OAK & SPORE channel in NZ, also breaks down old fruiting blocks, re-bags them, re sterilises them, then inoculates a DIFFERENT shroom strain to them and gets good results from the recycled substrate. GRO CYCLE channel in UK, also did some similar experiments on how many times you can get away with such methods (2 videos) and they found you tend to hit contamination and PEST issues, after the 2nd or 3rd such cycle, so commercial growers cant really risk such beyond that point.

What's the purpose of the mella when half the work is still inoculation of grain and even spawn bag mix? You would still need to wait for grain to fully colonize then mix with substrate. So the mella really only comes into play after all of this just as a glorified fruiting chamber 🤷♂️ seems like a lot of money for something that only automates a small portion of the process.

The 2.0 does not have heat control, which is less than $50 to add and is critical to mushrooms that need temps 78-82, a tight range and much warmer than found in buildings…. They are working on a 3.0 and I’m guessing it will have heat control. They should also add a CO2 sensor and fan option, also not expensive. These could be add ons if the mounting locations were supplied. Personally not impressed with it yet…

I received my Mella Grow Chamber a few weeks back. Thus far I've been using it for seed starters for my garden and for that it has been working. I don't like that everything "Smart" was removed from the design. Honestly, I completely disagree withyou about the app and smart functions. I would use the app to monitor and set alerts when the temp/Humidity is out of wack. With the "Finished" version the analog knobs are a joke, it makes it dumb and not smart. False advertising stating it's "Smart" especially since it's now commercial. The knobs leave alot of guess work to trying to control everything and they don't function all the time. This could be from shipping, poor quality or both. The Humidity control doesn't seem to raise the humidity, probably due to the design, it controls a fan a few inches away from a container of water with a filter. Might have been able to dial it in better with app, to which I really think they dropped $100+ in value removing those features. Right now it's just a plastic box with lights, 2 fans and a water bottle. I like it, but I wish it didn't cost as much as it did, I only crowd funded it at the price due to the listed "Smart" features that didn't make it into the final build.

Pretty clear from the AD that this does not work, else we would of seen video of great crops, rather we see a video of the most tolerant mushroom to lack of humidity (lions mane) and even it failed to do well. This item cannot get to the humidity levels required with this form of humidification. MAJOR FAIL!
