I don't understand, why do we even need circom circuit? Can't we just do everything in Javascript and solidity?

This is regarding @14:25 To verify the proofs on chain, shouldnt the generated contract enough? We could directly pass the generated proofs and public inputs from dapps and verify on chain.. Is there a strong reason to write another contract called zkapp contract ?

I think the generated contract is enough. As I have tried myself. I think the reason to write extra Smart Contract is to have more flexibility in your application. For example you could interface the Verifier contract and use its verifyProof function and add more require statements or emit an event that it was successful proof.
