This is a second Demonstration Video showing how Zer0 pool & spa lubricant releases a seized backwash valve. This video is in response to the feedback from the first demonstration video. In the first demonstration video the the backwash valve released itself fairly easily and viewers were wanting to see a more challenging valve to release. This is that video. The backwash valve is seized and Zer0 Pool & Spa Lubricant can make releasing them look pretty easy.

Wow, I'm so glad that I found this video. I've already broken the handle off before because the valve had been stuck. Once I received a replacement handle I somehow managed to pull the valve & replace the handle along with the o-rings and like most other people used the Magic...greasy, PTFE lubricant. This time after a day & half of waiting, no air pressure in the system, there was no movement at all. I couldn't find Zer0 at my local pool stores. I ended up ordering it on Amazon, but it was going to take two days. I really didn't want to wait any longer. I started calling stores in an expanding area to try & locate it. I found a small store about 9 miles away that had three 2 oz. bottles left. I immediately drove over & bought two of them. I was able to pry the valve up just enough to get the nozzle in to spray Zer0 around. After ten minutes I pulled & could feel it release. Wow! I applied the Zer0 to the o-rings, re-installed the valve and it worked just like new. The test will be to see how the o-rings hold up over time. I'm optimistic. If all works out I'm done with the Magic and will use Zer0 exclusively.

I couldn't find this at ANY ZerO Lube at pool stores so I used dish soap and a little tug and twisting and pop it came out. Pool guy said he would have to replace the valve and plumbing for about $300. Now looking for a new pool guy!

I cannot thank you enough!! Very helpful video & suggestions. Thanks to your comment that it 'might take longer and require more wiggling' I continued on even after I was ready to give up on it and it worked! The pool company said it was "seized" and that he would have to replace the entire backwash valve w/a newer model & cut the pipe to fit it.....for $250. I saw your video and thought I'd give it a try so I bought a bottle of Zero and a pack of new O-rings all for $10.00 and replaced it myself. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge!!!

I couldn't find Zero lube, so I used dish soap and it worked great. Thanks for the info/inspiration.

Mine was very hard to operate and was leaking when the pump was on and sucked air when the pump shut off. This showed me exactly what to do. Removed it, cleaned it up and lubed it. Now it's like new. Great video. Thank you!

The easy way to get the plunger out is to undo the two retaining nuts on the filter, reach in the port with your finger coated in synthetic grease and turn the handle coating the o'ring. Do this with both ports/ o'rings and reassemble the connectors to the filter. The plunger will pull right out. No chance of breaking it this way. I wasn't strong enough to break mine, but this method worked like a champ.

Dawn dish soap just worked for me as well. Valve was seized so bad the I pulled the handle off. Used about a 1/4 cup of Dawn. Pushed the valve all the way down, pried it up until I could get my fingers under the lid and it popped right out.

So this works just like PB penatrant...it's a synthetic based oil thats slides down and creeps into the sides of the back wash valve breaking the friction....sort of like WD-40 to a stuck bolt... awesome find for pool service and placing inside pool water situation

Using Zero worked for me. Before watching this video, I did not know what to do. Nothing had worked.

thanks for the video. Is there a way to clean down the tube that the diverter goes into. Mines all black and gunked up. Even though I lube my o rings.

Seems hard to believe this lubricant has the ability to penetrate through two tightly sealed o-rings, separated by several inches, and water, this quickly. Can pool owners who have used this product, verify that it works as described or does not work?

It works. I bought this product based on this video alone at least 3 years ago and it was worth every penny. Works just like he said. Check my vids, I have a couple of pool vids so you can see I’m not bs ing
