Been using this type of screed for years,tends to be expensive but easy to lay with a great finish,i use a pump to mix it,but it is only cost effective over areas around 20-25 m2 other wise it's cheaper to get a mixer load and pay for some one with a diesel pump to lay it for you around about £350, the bars for levelling are called dappling bars.

Looks old product which was called *Plano* before. There is also similar gypsum based product but dunno does Weber makes that too. Gypsum although needs special care on wet areas before you can waterproof it.

Yes I have used both true flow b you can buy in bags cheaper than Webers product but because it is anhydrate takes weeks to dry depending on depth,Weber floor flex which is reinforced with fibres is a good product,but first started using tarmac pozament it's been out for a few years exact same product as Weber cement based so quick drying great finish makes me wonder if there all from the same manufactures different labels.

I have been to the Weber factory and also to EvoStik and Setcrete. They all make their own product but they get the ingredients from the same sources so you might reasonably ask how different can they be? You also see products coming off the line with other brand names for merchants such as Wickes. I guess the bottom line is you find something that works for you and stick with it. Pardon the pun.

How hard wearing is this once it’s down??? Plan on using it for a shed floor where racking is going in and heavy things being dragged in and out. Don’t want it cracking and breaking

Looks a great product. Whats the bagged stuff actually called? Is there a product name.
@SkillBuilder7 жыл бұрын
Mezzy There are four different products all with numbers but maybe about to change to names. The one we were using was 4360 flow base fibre reinforced. They come in rapid set for small areas or standard set for larger areas. This video is an introduction to the training course but we will be out on site with the product.

looks good . if attempting by yourself how long does it keep a wet edge.
@SkillBuilder7 жыл бұрын
Don't use the rapid set and get someone to mix for you because it is too much for one person. The wet edge will remain for an hour or so but my method would be to dam up with the self-adhesive sponge and pour in bays. Then you can pull the sponge up and lay the last bay through the middle. The worst thing is to build up in layers because the heat from the curing mix will accelerate the next batch. Hopefully, we are going to do a live job in a few weeks time using Gorilla tubs and a whisk.

Would such a thin screed be unsuitable to use before putting up stud walls, i.e. fixing through screed and puncturing DPM beneath? Whereas a traditional sand & cement screed would be at least 50mm when laid on top of a DPM.
@SkillBuilder4 жыл бұрын
The polythene is to contain the liquid not to provide a dpm. You usually lat the dpm under the concrete but let's say you can't then a good alternative is some very short fixings and a nice run of gun adhesive. There is no need to put screws in the floor these days especially with underfloor heating.

Try the internet and also try Tarmac because they have a similar product. You are right to say that builders merchants will not stock slow moving items with a shelf life but I can't blame them for that.

Is this not the same as self levelling compound which has been around for years?
@SkillBuilder7 жыл бұрын
B Scooter No self leveller, as you will see from our other videos, is something you spread thinly with a trowel. You would use it on top of a base of sand and cement or other floor screeds to give you a smooth surface. It is self-smoothing but not self-levelling because it follows the existing floor. This 4360 takes the place of sand and cement screed so you go onto a polythene membrane on top of the insulation. Instead of having to trowel down to a depth of 50mm or more with underfloor heating you simply pour the mix in and agitate it so it levels out. Flow screeds have been around for ages but until now they come in big Readymix lorries and you have to order the right amount and use it in one go. You also have to grind the surface of gypsum based products whereas this is ready to lay onto within a very short time. Great for kitchen extensions where you want to get on with fitting the kitchen and laying the tiles.

I'm caught between a rock and a hard place here. I need to level off a floor but it's a tarmac surface. I can't afford to dig the tarmac out, it'll cost over ten grand to do that. I found Weber Floorflex and I'm thinking I'm going to try it because is is a bit flexible. I know concreting over tarmac is a big no no because tarmac flexes a lot and the concrete would just crack as a result. Thinking Floorflex might work. It'll be getting a heavy duty vinyl over it and the heaviest traffic over it will be trollies moving bags or flour and 20 litre tins of oil etc along with lighter items. I think this could be a temporary solution until I can afford to dig the tarmac out. Any ideas or thought folks?

Never really had to use floor levellers before, managed to get away with it when tiling, although does take longer. Looks like a great product, are they still a traditional screed depth or a lot thinner?
@SkillBuilder7 жыл бұрын
Much thinner than sand and cement. You can go down to 30mm and even less so when you need to get insulation in the floor and underfloor heating this can save your bacon or the vegetarian equivalent.
