Not gonna lie, for a good chunk of the game I thought all the shit about "alien hand syndrome", Diana/Carlos being like "I didn't press the button! Something made me!" and the termites would be leading to a twist that Gab was a mind-controlling termite / alien or something, since he has contact with all of the teams at some point and could therefore control their actions (besides Sean since he's a robot and controls himself), given that my theory would be correct. But nah, it's just "mind hacks". My theory was pretty stupid, but I can't tell which one is worse.

To be honest, one of my hypothesis during the game was that Zero uses hypnosis or something like that to be invisible to others and that Gab was his "hypnosis disguise", as he's almost always here with the characters. And when he stand up his chair, I briefly thought "YEAH I KNEW IT" (well, "Mind Hack", so...not very far, indeed)

Gab kinda was there as a secondary avatar for Delta. Likely chosen because he represented how he wanted to be seen by the others- old, harmless, incapable of understanding- and crucial to communication between Teams. There is even a moment when Q-Team starts talking to Q, and the camera cuts to Gab to make it look like they're referring to him.

The voice actors are all talented people. The problem of course is the script and the fact that the voice actors have to match their voice speeds with the Japanese lip sync, which is why it sounds awkward.

@@Zhuravliov Dude I know these voice actors from other medias (Keith Silverstein as Zhongli in Genshin and Shido from Persona 5, Karen Strassman, Matthew Mercer, DC Douglas, etc...) FF10 had the same problem as ZTD (having the eng voice actors match the speed of the dialogue with the jp lip sync animations) which is why it sounded weird. This isn't a VA problem, it's a script problem, you can make anyone sound good with a good script and timing.

Of course it's not true, bad acting does exist, but for some reason it exist ONLY in english dubs of Japanese media. I mean there is only three anime I find good acted in english. Which is Level E, Darker than Black season 1 and Slayers movies (but not TV and OVA). Oh, and also english dub in Genshin is horrendous. Especially with female characters.
