I think constantly Flipping open and closing the Blade causes Fatigue and flattering to the lock face and lock bar causing over travel of the lockbar! Great Video Sincerely Thomas Raymond.

just bought a ZT0562CF and am going to as you have done and fit the full set of blue ti hardware, just wish they make a blue ti (or even stainless steel) pocket clip, to complete the blue theme. I also wish ZT had done the same as what Hinderer did on the XM-18 and added jimping on the flipper tab and include a lanyard attachment point (I am thinking a short back spacer with integrated lanyard hole.) though I am thinking I might be able to mod a pocket clip to serve as a lanyard attachment point.(I have contacted ZT and requested that they send me another pocket clip). Other than that the ZT0562CF is a great knife, one of my favorite ZT's of the 5 that I own (ZT0801Ti, ZT0804CF, ZT0920, ZT0456 and the aforementioned ZT0562CF) I have to say, while I love your custom CF scale my 0562 carbon fiber is slightly textured and not what I would describe as 'slippery', maybe they have changed them. I don't feel as though I have to replace mine as they seem fine so far.

I prefer 50-70 percent lockup when the lock surface is steel on steel. I want it to be strong! Even if I have to push a little more to disengage. Now everyone prefers the same thing, that mighe be why as well.

not worried about it bottoming out, ZT will warranty it if it it wears that far not that it will. Steel doesnt wear back for a long time in my exp.

Where did you get that carbon fiber scale? And did you just order the hardware directly from Hinderer for the XM-18?? Or how did you go about getting it??

This is the ONLY way I would like Carbon Fiber scales. The reason I don't do carbon fiber is because of no traction. I use all my knives as knives and not for show. I would love this knife a lot more if it had G10 scales on BOTH sides. Thanks for the video my Bladed Brother!!!

Flathead Screws! The only screw that should be used. :-) Maybe they wanted to keep the price $250 or below. and opted not to take the extra step to skeletonize the liner. It would have most likely added to the cost. Or not. Comparing the ZT and the Reate, and what is worth $60 more, you left out the most important option. At least most important to me. The ZT is made in America, and the Reate is made in China. I could never image paying that kind of money for a Chinese made product, when there is an US option. Obviously, if I want an iPad, Playstation, ect., I'm buying a product made in China. Of course that is just my personal taste and ideals. I do not cast judgement on others. Too each their own. Like everyone, I still like to share my personal opinion. Regarding the Quartermaster, can you really take them on their word when it comes to materials? Hard to shake that bad rep.
@CuttingEdgeWorks
@CuttingEdgeWorks 9 жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing your opinion! You bring up a very good topic, which I plan on doing a video on within the next month. Delayed a bit because I'm in the process of moving to another state. I am a proud veteran and American. That being said, I think that we should do our best to put our money back into our own economy....but sometimes it doesn't actually make sense to do so. If I were shopping for my first or second knife, I'd buy American....period. Since I have about 200 knives now, at this point I will buy whatever offers the most value, regardless of where it's from. I have a ton of USA made knives, but if I find out that Reate or Custom Knife Factory comes out with a new knife...there's a good chance I'll buy it and not feel bad about it at all. Quartermaster is crap. I've always had great experiences with their customer service, but their products are more of a novelty in my opinion. Thank you very much for watching!

A question about the clip and your custom scales. Would flipping the clip for left hand carry be a lot worse on placement and extraction due to the apparent texture on your mod? Also chewing up the pants pocket. I like your mod but not sure if it's worth it for LH carry. Thank you.
@CuttingEdgeWorks

Stand Straight Yes you are 100% correct. Would not be a good idea for LH carry.

Awesome! How did you manage to unscrew the stock screws on the 0562? Mine are locked tight as hell, probably because of the loktite. Already tried soaking the knife in boiling water, they still won't move.
@theknifeconnection9571
@theknifeconnection9571 5 жыл бұрын
If you havnt got them out already. Use a torx screw driver with a cross bar for added leverage. The screws are extremely hardened. Mine is completely custom with ti screws and anodized American flag on the titanium . I wouldn't mind having this carbon scale though

@CuttingEdgeWorks
@CuttingEdgeWorks 9 жыл бұрын
Kai Cathers This type of pivot requires Loctite, regardless of whether you stick with steel or titanium. Also, the titanium pivot made my lock-up a bit later. I ended up heat-anodizing the original steel pivot to the same blue color and use that now.
