Baking soda is alkaline and vinegar is acidic, so they have a chemical reaction, but they are ineffective together to clean-thats why you are having to use more elbow grease to clean. Baking soda with water is great for scrubbing, rinse then spray with vinegar to disinfect and it will work better. I actually use liquid castile soap and water with my baking soda and it makes a paste scrub that works way better. I started off doing the same baking soda and vinegar routine too and I got so frustrated at how much time and sweat and effort I had to put in to scrubbing the tub once a week, and I just want to stop the spreading fallacy that baking soda and vinegar make a great cleaner combined- completely false. Sorry to burst anyone's bubble. Natural cleaning products do work great, but you have to consider there is chemistry involved and take the components into account for efficacy.

YES! Can't believe so many people still think baking soda and vinegar cleans well

This. The actual chemical reaction looks like this: Baking soda + vinegar --> carbon dioxide + water In other words, mixing the two is the literal equivalent of cleaning your toilet by exhaling on it and spraying it with water.

Thanks for sharing! I mean I knew the chemical reaction but I still found it cleaned well lol I guess I'm wrong

You are not wrong. Try cleaning grout without baking soda and vinegar and how many people across the globe are putting baking soda and vinegar in their toilets and coming back to a world a difference. Without a chemistry degree, the others opinion are invalid.

Vinegar, baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, and Dr Bronners are ALL staples. I also use alcohol as a disinfectant. Like wiping down electronics, door knobs, letting it sit on counter tops. Mjuch love 💚

For pots and pans and scrubbing out my sink, I freeze lemon halves I got for cheap and use the juice for tea and then I freeze them. Then when I want to scrub, I wrap the lemons in a bit of rag, dip them into salt or baking soda and use that to scrub out my sink and pots and such.

For laundry detergent you can use soap nuts. They last for multiple loads and they are as natural as it gets in terms of laundry detergent.

lol I tell this to my roommate all the time! If we can just clean once a week then it would be more like maintaining and preserving the state of the apartment rather than actually cleaning it

I really love your channel! You look so sweet and have lots of wonderful ideas :) i also use vinegar and baking soda for a lot in my appartment! But i heard somewhere that we shoudn't do our bed in the morning because it makes bacterias grows in the sheets and matress, it would be better to keep it open (hey! A good reason for not doing the bed in the morning :D !), but i'm not sure, i just heard this and it sticks in my head ^^ (Sorry for my english, im french canadian :) )

Salut!! Interesting... I know that in traditional french culture they used to air out their sheets instead of washing them. Maybe it comes from that? I feel like I can start my day when my bed is made.
