Zerobreeze Mach1 Modification

Please help, I am currently trying to remodify a zerobreeze mach1 to eliminate the on off switch and install a relay connected to a thermostat. I have bypassed the factory on off switch and after a 10 seconds or so the compressor will shut off. Can anyone provide any thoughts as to why the compressor shuts off? The compressor varies in terms of how long it stays on, but I recently wired a rigid 12v ac the same way and it's working so far. 😊
