Let me add that even if there is a lot of synths and programming on this album, there is an organic BAND at the core of this. Drums and bass were recorded first, and all programming is adjusted to that beat - not the other way around. And there is a lot of guitar on the album as well, even if it doesn't sound like it.

Also, regarding their hiatus since their previous 2013-album - the core members of Zeromancer also play in the band Seigmen, which are considerably bigger in Norway than Zeromancer are. And Seigmen did a comeback album and tour in 2014-2016. When they started working on this new ZRM album, singer Alex were indisposed after several surgeries and were out for a year, and then covid struck. So they haven't really been sitting on their arses for eight years!

Having now heard it I think your review is spot on. As a metalhead it's not the Zero album I was 'hoping' for either, but as a Depeche Mode fan it works well and I like it. This is not the Zero album to capture a metalhead's attention, I would suggest Eurotrash, Clone Your Lover or The Death of Romance for that. Anything but this or Zzyzx, which is also great but definitely not metal. Two bonus tracks on that album are absolute killer though, if you like 'mellow' Zeromancer. So much of Zeromancer's sound is Alex Moklebust's voice, you instantly know it's him and it's the main thread which ties all the albums together.

Zeromancer are one of three bands that I will buy anything they release without thinking about it. Bye Bye Borderline was their weakest album, but still good. I think from the singles they released on this one it's going to be better.

The other two are Faderhead and Sirus by the way....... you should check out Sirus, that is proper industrial but way better than what that label usually suggests, much more progressive and mind blowing.

Nice one! Will give them a spin! Cheers!

@@MetalEpidemic They have some incredibly high quality videos on You Tube considering they are such a small band. I recommend 'Full Scale Revolt'

@@robcarrier1969 Thank you for the reminder about Sirus. Someone on Reddit mentioned them when we had a conversation about Zeromancer and how they deserve to be far more popular than they are and they mentioned Sirus at the time. I had forgotten about the name of the band until you mentioned it, so thank you. And I am the same way. I will buy any release from Zeromancer. I'm on a quest to find t-shirts from them now but I haven't had a lot of luck without buying something used. Only found one available that I am not willing to wear because it has feathers and pearls in the graphic and just looks a little too un-industrial for my personal taste.

@@stevenhart9709 Yeah, Sirus are awesome. Really struggled to find Zeromancer shirts myself. Years ago I bought one from Sweden with the red cross logo on the front. It's worn out now really, but I can't bear to part with it. I did find two more, one just has ZMR on the front in white and the other one has the compilation album cover on it, can't remember where they came from though. Hope you can find something...
