💡 Key Takeaway: Your goal should be to focus your time on learning the topics and skills you need to get hired as quickly as possible, no matter what path and role you choose.
Why? 🠪 Your learning doesn't stop once you get hired, in fact, you will learn exponentially more because you'll be getting trained by and working with many experienced team members who have a vested interest in teaching you and helping you succeed. The best way to really learn Python (or any coding language) is by working on real projects and hard problems... which is exactly what you'll be doing at a company.
The best part? You'll be getting paid (really well) to learn!

This is the most spot-on video I've seen so far. I haven't finished but I can tell you know exactly what the real question being asked is. There's so many vague and short bright funny videos that speak quickly about nothing, recommend some websites they own, then say "until next time". You are going into detail item by item the skills and knowledge one would need to feel confident and able. When you are learning by yourself and people say something as vague as "learn python", it's like the manager telling a day 1 employee they need to do their job correctly. When you don't know what you don't know, it becomes very infuriating to keep hearing "just work on some projects, go on github", like that's so vague that I have no clue what to do.

This might be THE most important video for learning to code. A lot of this has helped me point me in the right direction. Lucky for me....😏 Where I work there are no programmers and they've given me access to data. I'm gonna learn as much as I can and use this... What looks like limitless amount of data to turn into Portfolio projects later. I'm obsessed with organizing data and attempting to make it easier for people to update things. I also wanna help organize assets and location of them. Which I know Python CAN do. I love being annoyed by little things haha You're right, I do need to learn with others, that is the most important thing.

Something I'd say is that if you're learning JS + Node already (and probably Express) there's really no point in learning another microframework. I'd say that having a batteries-included framework under the belt (be it Django, Laravel, RoR) would be better than knowing 2 microframeworks.
@slykhajiit2

I know I'm one year late, but can you expound on what "batteries-included frameworks" and microframeworks are? Would you recommend learning Django after or in the middle of learning the JS MERN stack? Thanks!

For me? I love Python because it was my very first programming language. Originally, I was trying to get into Data Science learning SQL, Tableua, Excel and eventually Python. I spent about 4 months studying Data Science but once I am started programing with Python, I realized I didn't want to learn Data Science. I wanted to learn how to create with coding. So I left Python and focused on HTML, CSS and JavaScript only for 6 months now. For the last 2 months I started thinking about full stack and was stuck between two languages C# and Python. Just yesterday I watched a video explaining how it's easier to get into DevOps with only 2 technologies and he said AWS and Python. For me I was sold, I said to myself let me research and learn about the road map in becoming a DevOps developer. So far there aren't that many resources on DevOps but I saw the 2 certificate course on the AWS website and I will read the documentation tonight. Thanks for the video!

@pratikrane149
@pratikrane149 4 жыл бұрын
Of course you can, there is no limit to what you can and should learn, but it comes with cost called 'time'. Like, I'm proficient in django for making websites and I also know how to deploy ML models with flask or django, but if you ask me to optimize/fine-tune the ML/DL models then that I can't do it as of now, because I haven't spend that much time learning required mathematics for ML/DL. I'm more inclined towards the process of overall software development. But if you are asking from the perspective of getting a job, then focus on any one, as companies want someone who is master in one, but is also a jack of everything else. They will usually hire two persons for separate roles i.e ML engineer and Django developer.

I'm currently watching CS50 lectures, cause recently I realized the knowledge gap I have, even tho I'm a CS graduate and currently working as a developer for almost an year. Hello. Thank you for making this video. It was very helpful. I was just curious, do most companies require a college degree in CS in order to qualify for a backend position? That's a good question and a common one. Honestly, every company is different. There are some companies that require a CS Degree but also many that don't require it. In fact, there seems to be a trend for less and less companies requiring it. That said, even if a company says they require it... if you have the skills to do the job, you have nothing to lose but still applying. Don't sell yourself short!

is django still popular in market? specially remotly jobs, and is it worth to learn it in 2023?
@ZeroToMastery
@ZeroToMastery Жыл бұрын
Hey Ahmed, Great question. The quick answer would be YES. Django is very much so still relevant in the world of programming. Django is fast, secure, and very scalable which is why major companies like Instagram, Spotify, and Pinterest still rely on it in 2023! Hope this helped 😊

So as someone who wants to self teach with the possibilty of becoming a software dev, is there anything I should learn prior to Python, or should i just focus my time learning python as much as possible?
@ZeroToMastery
@ZeroToMastery 3 жыл бұрын
Hey MrBrit! That's a tough question to answer, if your only goal is to become a software developer then I might not even suggest Python. This would be my advice --> zerotomastery.io/blog/learn-to-code-in-2021-get-hired-and-have-fun-along-the-way However, if you're looking to get into machine learning, data science, data analysis, Python is definitely a great choice. To answer your question literally, "is there anything you'd need to learn prior to Python to become a software developer" --> No. Python is a great foundation that you can use to become a software developer. Hope this helps and good luck!

how much time will require to become python developer?
@ZeroToMastery
@ZeroToMastery Жыл бұрын
Hey, that all depends on the amount of study time your are able to put in, day in and day out, as well as how dedicated you are to learning. I have seen people get hired as quickly as 3 months into their journey and for some it may take a year. Hope this helps 😊
