Thanks for making this video. I’m having the same issue with my stiff riding boots and factory shifter for my 2020 XT250. I knew replacing the shifter would solve this issue. Hopefully I’ll find this shifter for my bike.

I'm glad I could help. I really do recommend this or some other extender, it makes riding and shifting more comfortable. Another thing I recommend is a handlebar riser. BECAUSE, depending on how tall you are, will relieve your back when standing on the pegs. Oh, and that is another thing I switched....bigger pegs.

FYI, the links for both the shifter and the offset lever are in the description below the video. All you need to do is select the year, make and model of your bike and hit the button that says "check fitment"

I clicked on the link you have for the shift lever and it doesn't give an option for the xt. The image shown on the link doesn't show a way to connect the cable. Any help in guiding where to get the correct one would be greatly appreciated.

@CameraCommando 0:04 Would you mind helping me out...I clicked on the link you posted for the Zeta shift lever and there wasn't a option for a Yamaha xt 250. Can you guide me on how to get that one, The ones I find don't have a way to connect the cable. Your help would be very much appreciated. Thank you

@@1994vmaxI used the existing cable connection from the old shifter. It has a screw-in type attachment, so you don't need to buy anything extra, just switch the lever. If the link I posted is not valid anymore, I'd just google the name brand (zeta revolver), find the manufacturer and call their customer service people directly.

Hey. Well, I suppose the website may have changed since I purchased mine. I do remember it was very hard looking around the internet to find this item. I encourage you not to quit looking, as it is worth it and makes it easier to ride, especially with motocross boots.

It shows if you put 2020 in for the year. But not for 2021 or 2022. I see you have a '21 and I have a '22. Would be good to know if it would work for our newer bikes!

I think it should fit, but I don't know for sure. Did you ever get it and mount it up?@@motogravel

@@CameraCommando no - I sold that bike and bought a WR250R. And I put a Zeta shifter on that bike! The seems like a good workaround to the problem! 🤣 Of course I made that decision on other factors.

This is has been good but I can't find anyone with the Zeta Revolver Shift Lever in stock for the XT250. Other alternatives don't seem to have the reach of the Zeta and the Offset you put on. I don't think the others will actually solve the problem. I'm literally planning to sell the bike because I can't ride it where I want to because I can't shift with my boots. Anyone know of any options?

I agree it was tricky to find. Here is where I got mine: Zeta Revolver Shift Lever, Item # 645-ZE90-3360, Price: $64.55, Chaparral Motorsports, tel:800-841-2960, info@chaparralmotorsports.com

I can try Shawn. What part are you having problems with? the connection to the cable? The spring loaded section of the angle tip, or the rotation portion of the tip?
@shawnmcdade72763 жыл бұрын
Thanks for responding. It’s after I bolt it on trying to connect linkage it keeps pulling to far up and also it shifts to first but doesn’t go up because it hits frame.

Where can I find/buy the actual gear shifter bolt that's on the bottom not the top.. it's holds the whole shifter in place.. I lost mine and need to find either the size of it or the actual bolt online somewhere

Good question. I used the existing one that was on the bike. I had not purchased it. My guess would be to users who do have purchased OEM

Great Video, I tryed to find the Zeta lever for a 2021 Yamaha XT250 and can`t find one....do you know a U.S. supplier....Cheers James....WA ST
How much extra length over stock did this give you? Also, do you think you could have just used the Zeta offset end on the stock lever if you grind off the pin?
@CameraCommando Жыл бұрын
It gave enough clearance so that I could wear riding boots. The lever has multiple adjustments so you can customize. Without the lever, I had to ride in an uncomfortable position because shifting gears was very difficult. You only need this mod for boots. I gives between 1-2 inches more of clearance. Regarding shaving the pin, I would think it might be unsafe. I also upgraded the pegs for more comfortable standing.

Hi, bought offset shifter,I removed the one it came with on shifter but spring fell out not sure how it goes back together any tips thanks
@CameraCommando3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I had the same exact issue. It was tricky but here is what I remember: obviously the spring needs to align with the hole the pin goes through. Now the trick is, you have to have the extended pins lined up so that they touch the metal on both the extender and the arm when you reinstall it. That way, when you press the extender down, it will "create" pressure, or tension, and cause it to bounce back after you release the pressure. I hope this helps.
@shawnmcdade72763 жыл бұрын
I put it in the way where I get tension but Ian’s it snaps back but it doesn’t create enough pressure to keep it tight it has play at the end . Could you tell me if the straight pease of pen is at the top part of coil or at bottom when installed can’t tell from video , and if the hook part is to fit in little hole inside. If that makes sense .

Hey Dawsyn, it’s been a while since I ordered mine so I can’t exactly remember what option I picked. I recommend sending the vendor an email or calling them to be sure. In my opinion the shifter should work on multiple bikes. What is key is to carefully study how your current shifter connects to your bike. Take pictures and be very familiar with how everything goes together before disassembling anything just in case it doesn’t work out and you need to work backwards. It’s an easy procedure but take your time, put on some tunes and enjoy it. It’s part of the fun of wrenching and doing mods.

@CameraCommando thanks for getting back to me, I believe the XT250 model was just out of stock like most of the other comments said. The thing that makes the XT250 model stand out is the linkage rod that connects the shift lever to the transmission - looks like most other levers connect right onto the transmission. Thanks again for the advice, ride safe and have a good rest of your day!

How does the cable connect to the new shift lever? Thanks
@CameraCommando10 ай бұрын
On mine it has a screw/ twist in connection. I just twisted on, then bolted the lever in the exact location as the original. There were no instructions, but if you observe the cable in your hand, there’s only one way to do it. Let me know if you are seeing something different and I’ll go look again.
