So 15-16 years ago, back when garbage truck videos on KZbin was a niece thing and only a handful of close knit people put them up, I was driving in Portland, Oregon for a company called AGG. At one time I had close to 50 videos like this of various stops I took on route. We were a commercial only company who did Front Load and Roll Off and the largest privately owned hauler in Portland.
I took a lot of the videos when I was doing the downtown garbage route because Portland is very unique in how they do commercial. There are no alleys, most of my stops were pull outs with specialty bins that I had either pull through doorways and off curbs (and then lift them back up) or go underground in a man-sized elevator and send small bins up to empty. All of our trucks had adjustable forks and outside controls.
The company that I worked for found the clips on KZbin and forced me to delete them in front of them. I ended up losing the hard drive which had the originals and I will forever be grateful to Dejuan (@CoolHandMacc) who saved these and sent them to me. This is one of the best times of my life. A 23 yr old single guy who had the best job in the world doing what he loved.
Clip 1&2: Truck 205 a 2005 Autocar WX New Way Mammoth Front Loader. This was 1 stop that I did twice a week. They had a 4 yard in the garage at the bottom of the hill and then several compactors at the top. The first compactor was at the top of a VERY steep hill (can't really see it in the video) that if the brakes went out, the truck would roll all the way into the river!
Clip 3: This was Truck 206 a 2003 Mack MR STS Front Loader. We had 3 of these trucks, 2 on Pete 320's (204/207) and this Mack. The Mack was by far the worst driving truck of all and I think soured me on the cab design. To be fair, by the time I got around to driving it, it had been beaten and abused by all the previous drivers who didn't care about taking care of their equipment. It was slow and when it rained, was impossible to use the mirrors and the windshield wipers worked 1/2 the time.
I hope you enjoy the clips and let me know if you remember watching them back in the day!

I'm so glad that I was able to save a few for you brother. I wish I could have saved more. These bring back a lot of memories of our early morning phone calls while working.😎

Man, Autocar+Mammoth, she’s a keeper. It’d be a shame if this trucks not on the road anymore!

That part about deleting the videos sounds terrible, glad you could recover this though. Love your description about your take on the job as well - that’s how I’ve always thought of it. I’m still in highschool but idealize this as a career - have been since I was four lol. Also interesting to hear that AGG gave Recology entrance to Oregon, seems like they service a sizable portion of the state now. Heard they’re having their first Oregon state truck Rodeo next year!

I very much remember the second clip, Dejuan really is the man for saving this. Heiberg had/has a twin to 205 I would use on Saturdays, the sounds and the view of the sliding fork setup General put on them took me right back, granted 10 years after this video. I laughed at the Mack grille, she really must have been abused. Seems slow for an STS too, worn out pump? What kind of schedule/hrs did you guys work at AGG? Lots of overtime?

I loved 205. It was a great truck. 206 was a pig. She was abused and put away wet. It would have been amazing to get these STS trucks when they were brand new and in their prime just to see how they could truly perform but alas, that was not the case. We did several schedules while I was there. Some guys did 4/10's...I enjoyed working so I usually ended up with just shy of 50 hrs a week. Front load started at 2am and most of us were done by noon- 1 o'clock depending on how the other routes were going and if we needed to help. On downtown, I was usually done by noon.
