@@natchann6558 Arcane animation style is nothing like this one. Arcane is a 3D renderized with 2D mostly, except for some scenes, very short ones, that were made by hand on 2D. This trailer is all made on 2D by hand. Frame by frame. This is absolutely gorgeous and requires way a loooot more time. I believe this whole cinematic is made on Harmony and Im just so so in love. 😻 I missed seeing this art style in a full 2D animation!

But for the plot: The world has been "cursed" and some people were transformed into those black creatures and are living in one region - they got isolated because if you touch (or get touched by one of) those creatures you will be cursed and turn into one of them -, this little girl come from "the other side", were humans live, but Teacher welcomes her and take good care of her, the story goes by this and the rest you need to read to know. It's a really good story, and the art is the cherry on (top of) the cake.

Seeing this made me feel like Micheal Scott in the office during the fire drill. " Oh my God it's happening, stay calm everyone it's happening oh my God." I got the last volume as soon as it released, and I then finally sat down and finished the whole series last week. @@claireshefferly6046 To try and put it simply without any spoilers, the story is about a monstrous looking man and a little girl that cannot touch one another, for if they touch, the curse that made the man look like a monster shall spread to the little girl. Despite this, the monster otherwise called "teacher" does his best to care for the little girl. There is some more going on but that's the short explanation. It's not all rainbows and sunshine and does become a bit dark at times, but it plays a good line between showing how dark the world can be and the light and joy these two find in one another's company

Studio Wit is seriously doing such an awesome job at breaking the mould in terms of stylistic choice. With a handful of exceptions, the stylistic choices for animation have been fairly stagnant with the exception of a handful of notable works.. ping pong the animation comes to mind. WIT is seriously climbing the ladder at breakneck pace to be one of the greatest and most innovative animation studios in japan! Truly fantastic.

Also the golem is voiced by Daisuke Ono! 😍 He's such an amazing voice actor that alone should make the anime worth checking out! It's streaming on Crunchyroll right now.

For the English/international fans trying to look for this movie, I think this movie is in a physical DVD as part of a special edition box set for this manga series. I managed to buy it from a proxy service, but of course, no english subtitles whatsoever. I've tried looking online to watch the movie, but there isn't much there. I adored this manga back when I had stumbled across it so many years ago. In truth, I had never understood the way people get so wildly excited for anime adaptations until I first saw the teaser trailer a while back and finally understood. The intense joy and excitement of seeing something your so fond of being picked up for a larger audience and put in a new format is huge. I'm so excited for this. Everything looks so nice and the voice acting sounds really fitting too, I'm really looking forward to the release. I'm thinking about re-reading again just to celebrate!

Usually when an animation has this trembling colors style it also has choppy movement. This style of trembling textures with fluent movement seems so unusual and beautiful.
