Zhan Tiri definitely belongs in the list of classic Disney villains for me, not hiding her evil intentions and doing a Villain reveal twist as recent villains - No she immediately declares her plan to Rapunzel's face and taunts her. There is nothing in her that implies any good left in her and her origins states she was power hungry as a human. Has a monster transformation similar to Maleficent and last she wasn't pretty and as a child she was creepy.. Yup the only thing she needed to be a classic Disney villain was her own song.

Zhan Tiri was definitely one of Disney’s top villains... She was one of the most powerful beings in Rapunzel’s world. I thought at first that she was just a ghost, but when she came out of the portal, in her “true human-like” form, she became a force to be reckoned with. I would definitely say that Zhan Tiri underestimated the power of friendship, especially from the side of Rapunzel. I feel that Zhan Tiri is a “weird “ villain because, in her manipulation, she also went against Cassandra, who was in a way her minion. Zhan Tiri even treated Cassandra with contempt, even to the point of comparing her to Gothel, which I think is so wrong! But all in all, what Zhan Tiri did brought Rapunzel and Cassandra back together as best friends again. I am glad that Zhan Tiri’s full story is made clear!

Gothel got lucky she wasn’t captured, but like what Zahn Tiri said, she was felled by her own ego. Gothel did research on the Sundrop and Moonstone and decided to use the Sundrop for herself to stay young forever.

I thought she lacked charisma or backstory. Kind of generic, like some of the more forgettable marvel villains. The most memorable ones tend to be a little fun (Ursula, Gaston, Dr. Facilier, even Gothel) or more scary because they are realistic villains we could actually meet (Frollo and Lady Tremaine)

The finale felt a little rushed in my opinion and I feel like the bit of Zhan Tiri's backstory we were shown was pulled from thin air. I don't know if the show was pressed for time and got the SVTFOE treatment but it just seemed off.... I also feel as though Cass's death was a cheap trick and that it either shouldn't have happened or should've remained permanent. I'm hopeful we might get some books or comics explaining the lost lore but in the event that it doesnt happen i wont be surprised

Last few finales (even season) felt rushed. I wonder if the bigwigs at Disney were adding pressure to end the (at times) very dark show they had intended for little girls, as Disney princess tie in? Maybe there was a change up of writers? The results were still good don’t get me wrong, and certainly compelling, but also a tad of a letdown after seeing what the show had already done , high bar to meet and all. Hopefully they continue to put out shorts, or dive into lose ends in comics, or crossovers.

From Tangled Before Ever After, we see that the moonstone power from the rocks reacts with the sundrop power inside Rapunzel, which gives energy to the sundrop and activates it. The activation causes Rapunzel's hair to grow long with the golden color. The same thing happens here in the finale. But instead of having gold color permanently, her hair changes frequently between brunette and gold. This is because most of the sundrop's energy, which revealed in the opal shape after some kind of reaction, being used by Zhan Tiri after being taken out from Rapunzel. The loss of energy causes her hair to lose its gold color. Fortunately, she still have a bit of the sundrop power inside her. It's just the sundrop that lacks its energy. So, touching the small piece of moonstone gives the sundrop only a small amount of energy. That's why her hair flashes brown and then gold. The sundrop doesn't have lots of energy. Rapunzel's action of sending the united element back to the sky doesn't mean she lose the sundrop energy that left inside her. If someday, Rapunzel gets the energy from the moonstone, or the sundrop, it will activate the sundrop inside her again. Maybe she will get her gold hair back, not sure it will become long again, or it will stay on the length Rapunzel's hair currently is.

Well, we know that Raps has no healing power of the sundrop anymore, but instead, she gets the protective power when the sundrop reacts with the moonstone. That's why her tears won't heal Cassandra. 😔 Speaking about the sundrop, it's unconfirmed that she lose the sundrop's power entirely. But I'm sure she still have bits of it left inside her. From the scene, I don't see that the stone starts to pull her sundrop power so maybe there's a chance that she still have it 😌 So far we know that it won't get activated without the moonstone, because the moonstone acts like sundrop's energy source that revives back weak sundrop's power, like what happened in the first place she gets her long hair back, and like what I've explained about the moment she touched the piece of moonstone and get small amount of energy. So, if she really does have the sundrop power left, assuming that moonstone power is not anymore reachable, what about the moon eclipse will trigger the sundrop's reaction and activates inside her again? If the sun eclipse weakens sundrop's power, maybe it will be an opposite for the moon eclipse. Maybe the sun's strength during the moment supplies a lot of energy back to Rapunzel's sundrop power. 😄

Speaking about that, we only see the rocks disappeared and it returns to the moonstone, but we didn't see the scene where her powers gets sucked. So it's 50-50 situation now. Who knows, maybe in the future sequel it is said that she still have it 😄

I still feel like we’re missing large chunks (literally a season’s worth left to go), but they just got tired of writing/animating it and went the Salvage Route. Especially with the lore and ZT. Especially with bringing up Gothel at all as a shared abuser, apparently. (Then showing Gothel having a lab...With The COMPLETE Scroll. Yeah that never got explained whatsoever...) - (...Gothel’s still more likely to abandon or murder a child if she didn’t have her own means of a contraceptive. So...yeah. Still gonna say it made more sense for Gothel to take advantage of her dependency on the Sundrop to produce a child capable of taking the Moonstone without getting blasted away or killed like King Edmund and other Dark Kingdom residents. And Cass’s personality and color palette literally reflected the Moonstone just as much as Raps did the Sundrop, and that then would’ve had both girls’ destinies predetermined by the actions of their mothers...but THEY choose to be the ones to interpret what that even means for themselves. But whatever.)

Agreed. The finale felt rushed because it was full of unnecessary fluff. The whole monkey scene was pointless, showing the world that Zhantiri was trapped in was pointless. Comical, yes, but ultimately not important to the plot. It was such a shame that they didn't expand on Zhantiri's plan for the solar eclipse, it kinda just happened and was convenient to weakening Rapunzel. In my opinion, there wasn't enough development to make the last fight fully satisfying. Cass's true redemption should have been over at least 2 episodes with the feelings really hashed out like Varian's was. One episode for conflict and redemption, another episode for the aftermath and final character development. And there should have been more music (or at least one more meaningful song). There should have been a really memorable song that was like "Ready as I'll ever be", like a redemption duet between Rapunzel and Cass, sisters at last. It felt like the third season fell really flat when it came to music. The first two seasons had quite a few powerful songs pumped in that resonated with the characters and audience.

@@patax144 maybe at the time before the main focus was the moonstone as it looked like they were in the cold regions of the world to which Zhan Tiri was sent to a different dimension. After that, she probably went into hiding so that she didn't suffer the same fate as the other two followers and used that time to learn about the sun drop. By the time she learned of it, she had grown old (or had some form a magic at the time trying to hold back her age and at the point might have looked young when she had Cass, possibly explaining how she quickly aged while Cass was still a Toddler) and was able to get to the Sun Flower before the Kingdom learned of it. By that time, she wasn't thinking about bringing back Zhan Tiri, but wanted her youth back, thus (without realizing it) her vain for youth might have actually prolonged Zhan Tiri's return along with some other things

I love how just she's the big brain behind the whole story. One of her minions was Gothel, who kidnapped Rapunzel for her own ego, which lead to the events of the movie, and so to Frederic executing Lady Caine's father, thinking that he was the one who kidnapped his daughter. Lady Caine returns as the main antagonist of the plot of the series to avenge her father's death, which then leads to Rapunzel touching the stones and gaining her blonde hair back. She takes the form of the storm during "Queen for a Day", leading to Raps abandoning Varian's desperate quest and making him betraying the princess at the end. The end of the first season makes the whole group follow the stones and reach at the mid of the story the House of Yesterday's Tomorrow, in which Zhan Tiri manipulates Cassandra and let her see the memory of Gothel abandoning her, thus triggering her anger and making her betray Rapunzel. Just...wow.

Gothel found the sundrop(flower) first as in the movie it is shown and said by Eugene that Gothel found the flower centuries before the founding of Corona, while when Zhan Tiri was first banished Corona already existed, she probably became one of the pupils in order to keep them from finding her flower

Like many others, I think Gothel was one of Zhan Tiri's disciples. It kind of makes sense: how Gothel knew about the sundrop, the incantations, and where to find it. I also have a theory about how Zhan Tiri was able convince Gothel. Gothel was probably told throughout her life how beautiful she was and took pride in that. However one day she realized that her beauty would fade, that she will grow old, and that she would die: and that scared her. Zhan Tiri did say that she fell do to her own ego.

Luckily, Lord Demanitus was able to built a device strong enough to change the storm back into the direction of Zhan Tiri, therefore, saving Corona. Unbeknownst to him, the magic storm, although seemingly stopped, remained in Corona as a curse that waited for the land to be at its weakest and strike again. Ultimately, Demanitus banished Zhan Tiri back to the Lost Realm, as well as imprisoned one of his former pupils, Sugracha the Eternal, in the chamber, where his device was located, while others, like Tromus, were able to escape the inventor's persecution. Despite that, both Sugracha and Tromus remained true to Zhan Tiri and promised to help their new master escape once again, when the time was right. Role in the series Season One Zhan Tiri was the subject of the episode "Queen for a Day", where the storm curse she had cast long ago had returned to reclaim Corona, though the disaster was ultimately averted by Rapunzel. Her storm's story was told to the people of Corona by Xavier, as he hinted and showed Rapunzel and Cassandra the device that stopped it. Zhan Tiri's presence became known in the episode "Painter's Block", in which one of Zhan Tiri's spirit allies, Sugracha the Eternel, managed to escape their prison and formed a plan to free her as well. Zhan Tiri was close to being freed, until Rapunzel, whom Sugracha had under her spell, broke free from it and disrupted the ritual, sealing the portal, but not before Fidella kicked Sugracha right through it. Season Two Zhan Tiri is mentioned in "Rapunzel and the Great Tree". As told by Adira, Zhan Tiri took over and corrupted the Great Tree, taking it as her fortress to destroy all who approached. Ultimately, Lord Demanitus put a stop to Zhan Tiri's reign with a magic spear that rendered the evil magic in the Great Tree dormant. In "You're Kidding Me!", one of Zhan Tiri's disciples, Matthews, later revealed in "Rapunzeltopia" to be Tromus, vows to keep the Sundrop (Rapunzel) trapped within the House of Yesterday's Tomorrow forever. Subsequently, Tromus traps Rapunzel in a dream world where she never touched the black rocks, with the intent of ensuring that she accepts the illusion, all the while transferring the Sundrop's power to Zhan Tiri, personified by a eerie statue. However, Rapunzel is able to break free of the dream world, causing Tromus and the House of Yesterday's Tomorrow to vanish into oblivion, once again thwarting Zhan Tiri. In "Lost and Found", Zhan Tiri was mentioned again by Demanitus when he tells the legend of the Sundrop and Moonstone to Rapunzel and Eugene. Zhan Tiri was summoned by Demanitus' former students, Sugracha, Tromus and Gothel until she was banished back to her own realm by Demanitus. Season Three At the House of Yesterday's Tomorrow, after Cassandra walks through a door that leads into a mysterious room, she is greeted by Zhan Tiri in the form of an enchanted girl who shows Cassandra her forgotten past, while claiming to be a new friend that has been waiting for her. Together, they witness Cassandra's childhood memories, causing Cassandra to learn she is Mother Gothel's daughter and was abandoned on the night she kidnapped the princess. As Cass' pain of remembering that cruel night causes her to cry, Zhan Tiri tells Cassandra that she is sorry that she had to live through something like that before telling her that she'll always be overshadowed by Rapunzel and that the only way for her to end it is to take the Moonstone for herself. As Cassandra works to fully master her new magical abilities, in "Who's Afraid of the Big, Bad Wolf?", Zhan Tiri approaches Cass as her mentor on the matter. She tells her that the opal reacts to negative emotions like anger and that she should use the built-up hatred Cass has for Rapunzel to power it. When Cassandra was beginning to feel guilty about her betrayal towards Rapunzel, in "Beginnings", Zhan Tiri ensures that Cassandra remains bitter towards the princess by telling her that half of the opal's power that should be hers are within Rapunzel's regrown hair, so the princess would have protection during her journey to the Dark Kingdom.

During Cassandra's training in "Be Very Afraid", Zhan Tiri tells her that she is destined to claim both the Moonstone and the Sundrop once she destroys Rapunzel, hearing this news from her had caused Cassandra to create red versions of the black rocks. Zhan Tiri explains that the Moonstone's connection to both her and the rocks have caused them to react to her own emotions of fear, as well as rage. After Rapunzel and Varian got rid of the red rocks in Corona, Zhan Tiri uses that fact to convince a doubting Cassandra that she'll always be bested by Rapunzel until she destroys her. Sometime after Cassandra came across her adoptive father in "Islands Apart", Zhan Tiri gets Cassandra to make a return trip to the Great Tree in hopes to find anything that could help her unlock the Ultimate Power. Zhan Tiri was angry that the scrolls there were damaged like Cass said from her late time there and knew that the Graphtic Scroll was destroyed long ago, until Cassandra tells her that said scroll has been restored and is currently in Corona. In "Cassandra's Revenge", Zhan Tiri accompanies Cassandra to the Demanitus Chamber, and warns her against giving in to Rapunzel, attempting to convince her that the princess is trying to trick her. Once Cassandra drugs Varian unconscious and abducts him, Zhan Tiri makes sure to warn her that she must be more prepared for Rapunzel's arrival, which gives Cassandra the idea to create a large castle of her own where Rapunzel's Tower once stood, consisted of black rocks. While Cassandra is leading a captured Varian up the stairs of her new castle, Zhan Tiri gives her additional commands to follow. Once Rapunzel arrives at Cassandra's castle accompanied by Flynn Rider, Lance Strongbow, Pascal, Maximus, and Angry and Red, Cassandra takes amusement in their laughable failed attempts at infiltrating her castle. Just then, Zhan Tiri arrives to her and sadistically orders her to let Rapunzel in, force her to fight her, and break her spirit by killing her friends, to which Cassandra reluctantly accepts. Zhan Tiri then proceeds to invade Varian's dreams, where she hides her identity by first introducing herself to him as a big disembodied head, before splitting her spiritual form into half and twisting her head as well. There, she tells him that the only way to save Cassandra is with the fourth incantation, telling him to "use the sun to see the sun" in regards to the scroll before waking him up by purposely scaring him. As the awakened Varian expresses confusion at Zhan Tiri's words, she smiles maliciously at him. By the time Cassandra finally gets Rapunzel to fight her by threatening Eugene's life, Zhan Tiri continues ordering her to break Rapunzel's spirit, in addition to stating Cassandra is more powerful. As the both of them battle, reality warps and Zhan Tiri gives off a deranged laughter as she enters a dark purple vortex. Following Cassandra's defeat and the Moonstone cracking, Zhan Tiri exits the portal, now having a black, gray, and purple physical form. As Cassandra watches in shock, Zhan Tiri reveals that the clash of Sun and Moon has released her from her prison, and clenches her fist and revels at her return. In "Race to the Spire", Zhan Tiri and Cassandra headed over to the Spire to get an item from Calliope. Although they got the item but failed to get the key due to Calliope sending it to Rapunzel, Zhan Tiri and Cassandra formed a plan to get the key from her. However, Zhan Tiri didn't realize that Rapunzel isn't easy to fool but they did discover her weakness is compassion for others. When the item is revealed to be the Mind-Trap stone, Zhan Tiri and Cassandra were able to get it when Rapunzel chose Calliope's safety as they took advantage of her compassion. After leaving with Cassandra, Zhan Tiri returns to the Spire to formally introduce herself to Rapunzel and told her how they had been playing her former friend. Also, Zhan Tiri threatens Corona again with an eclipse and left the Spire. In "A Tale of Two Sisters", to ensure Rapunzel and Cassandra don't reconcile their friendship, Zhan Tiri put one of Mother Gothel's mirrors in the princess's bag when she and Cassandra were investigating the cottage that Cassandra once lived in. Also, Zhan Tiri took a piece of the mirror off so Cassandra wouldn't see what her mother truly thought of her and to keep her against Rapunzel. After Cassandra returns to her tower, Zhan Tiri threw the piece out as they now made sure her and Rapunzel's friendship stayed broken. In "Once a Handmaiden...", Zhan Tiri was confronted by Cassandra, after she found the missing piece from Mother Gothel's mirror, as she discovers that she tricked her into turning against Rapunzel. After Cassandra found out who they really are and left her tower, Zhan Tiri took matters into her own hands in order to make sure she doesn't reconcile with Rapunzel and put their plans into motion. During the Goodwill festival at Corona, Zhan Tiri tries to trick Cassandra, who sneaked into the kingdom to make things right with the Princess, again by telling her that Rapunzel authorizes a weapon that could be used against her, although she did it out of protecting the kingdom and would only use it as a last resort, then gave her something to defend herself against the Princess. Knowing that Corona now sees Cassandra an enemy and to make sure she falls for the ruse, Zhan Tiri unsealing removed her cloak that she stole from the Spire right in front of Rapunzel, which got the Royal Guard to come to the Princess defense. With no one noticing, Zhan Tiri fired the weapon Varian was holding at Cassandra to make her believe that Rapunzel now sees her as an enemy like the rest of Corona does. Zhan Tiri watches evilly as she succeeded in getting Cassandra to take over Corona for her thus beginning the plans of an eclipse. In the series finale "Plus Est En Vous", Varian learns that Lord Demanitus has a machine that trapped Zhan Tiri in another world. and Rapunzel, Eugene, Pascal, Varian, Lance, Angry and Red venture to Demanitus' tomb to get the plans. They realize that they have to build the machine close to Zhan Tiri and the Coronans proceed to storm the castle. Rapunzel faces off with Cassandra, but with the impending eclipse, Rapunzel's powers begin to wane, but she stands guard and the Sunshine symbol on her dress transfroms into the Sunstone. Meanwhile, the Coronans successfully build the machine, but Hamuel accidentally activates it, sucking everyone except Eugene and Edmund in. Cassandra grabs the Sunstone from Rapunzel with the eclipse in full effect. Zhan Tiri appears and snatches it from her. She then grabs the Moonstone from Cassandra, depowering her and transforming into a giant demon (her true form). She locks both of them in a golden rocks prison and proceeds to use the decay incantation to destroy Corona and murder everyone inside. Rapunzel then makes amends with Cass. They then collaborate to stop the wicked demon. Just as Zhan Tiri prepares to strike Rapunzel, Cass stuns the demon in the head iwth a frying pan. They try to merge the unconcious spirit's hands togehter, but she recovers and breaks free. Rapunzel then lassoes Zhan Tiri with her hair, then takes a shard of the Moonstone and slashes her hair with it, meshing Zhan Tiri's wrists with the the Sunstone and Moonstone, causing the wicked demon to obliterate into nothingness. Trivia A small statuesque figurine of Zhan Tiri is seen in "Keeper of the Spire", as one of the museums' exhibits. Zhan Tiri's Enchanted Girl voice actress, Jennifer Veal previously worked on Descendants: Wicked World as the daughter of Alice, Ally. Zhan Tiri showing Cassandra the shadows of her forgotten past, as the Enchanted Girl, is somewhat similar to the actions of The Ghost of Christmas Past from A Christmas Carol. Instead of doing this to help Cassandra, however, she does it for entirely malicious and selfish reasons. In "Race to the Spire", Zhan Tiri reveals that the blizzard from "Queen for a Day" was actually a form she had taken. In "Once a Handmaiden...", Zhan Tiri claims that she and Cassandra aren't so different and that they were both cheated out of their destinies. This is proven true in "Plus Est En Vous", since it is revealed that she turned against Demanitus for power just like how Cassandra turned against Rapunzel. However, while Cassandra redeemed herself, Zhan Tiri never does. In "Plus Est En Vous", Zhan Tiri references to Cassandra that she lost from the beginning like her mother had failed because of their ego, a major nod to villains and those who became villains in Disney movies and the TV series. Cassandra, and to a lesser extent Varian, also have their own egos. But unlike Zhan Tiri, they aren't truly evil and managed to redeem themselves.

Alex Downs I think Gothel is Cass’s actual mom. The sun drop can heal and rejuvenate the body inside and out, otherwise Gothel would have been dead a long time ago. If she was granted a long life span because of the sun drop, her organs would have to be repaired too, like her heart, lungs, etc. I’m thinking Cass was the result of a one night stand or something like that.

Just got a bit of a new theory. Yes, Zhan Tiri was able to preform magic, but her inhuman form could have been the result of her time in that other realm as shown how staying in that realm was changing the others when they got trapped. Now perhaps Demanitus had used the machine that Varian was able to rebuild to trap Zhan Tiri into the Lost realm only once and then after some time has passed, his pupils used some form of magic like in the episode Painters Block where Sugracha tried to open up a portal. And when she was set free from the realm for the first time, she could have used her time around then to grow her magical abilities enough to set forth the blizzard. Which I think she did that a little before or after Demanitus used the spear to stop the magic in the Great Tree. Plus, either he had to have needed to build a giant version of the portal or used a different set of means to send Zhan Tiri back to the Lost realm. So unless we get a mini-comic series of the adventures of Demanitus, some kind of book or the people behind the show plus movie to confirm, we'll still be curious of everything that hasn't been told like the blue stripe in Varian's hair to why Eugene was left at the orphanage.

Well, I've ever heard Zhan Tiri hasn't made in this far from the legend to a real one. According to the fact, Zhan Tiri but once an allied of Lord Demanitus until the betrayal. This proves that she was obsessed of the Sundrop and the Moonstone for herself and then she was banished by Lord Demanitus into the "Lost Realm" and then she summons again by the three disciples: "Sugracha the Eternal, Tromus, and Mother Gothel" until it's defeated. Sometime later, she manipulate Cassandra and then she betrays Rapunzel for fulfilling her destiny. In "Plus Est En Vous", Zhan tiri manage to gain the Sundrop and the Moonstone from Rapunzel and Cassandra while on eclipse in Corona then, she now as a "true form" from the "Enchanted Girl". Next, they cast "Reverse Incantation", and then she was destroyed by Rapunzel and Cassandra by a combined Sundrop and a Moonstone to form "The Ultimate Power" and obliterated into nothingness. So that's far on this truly story of Zhan Tiri

Dude!!!!! My favorite episode is CASSANDRA’s revenge tooooooo!!!! And personally I don’t hate Zhan Tiri!!! Even though a lot of people do (including my friends) I can’t bring myself to hate her because even though she had hurt all of Corona I always have appreciated a good villain! And Zhan Tiri is definitely one of those villains!!!!!!! She kind of reminds me of Cora from once upon a time (intel Cora did the right thing) and I loved Cora for being a villain because no good story has only heroes!!!!!!!!! Plus VARIAN might be the descent of LORD DEMANITUS AND ZHAN TIRI!!!!!!!

I honestly expected blue haired Rapunzel when she used the moonstone but this was still an epic ending A friend of mine made a point on how Zhan Tiri's defeat was "too fast" But I honestly believe it's just fine the way it was, I mean, Zhan Tiri was invincible, more episodes would honestly make no se se at that point

You know, I honestly like how when a Disney franchise progresses with sequels and tv shows, they make new characters with design cues that fit in within their world and the art style of the original film. Plus I love how the villains are designed.
