I can't remember it was when I was in school. I got into other things and lost track of snooker. I'm 28 now and finished school in 2012. I watched odd matches here and there but that's about it. I got into Snooker and F1 as my parents ran a restaurant and me and bro lived upstairs. They were the things on TV.

Many (clearly not all) Chinese are known for their inflated sense of persecution. Mostly 'little pinks' and wumao, having a nationalist bent as they do. Somewhat kettle and pot, however, given the brutal regimes their athletes (especially young gymnasts) are forced to endure, including violence in all its forms. Show me a genuinely happy and balanced young gymnast in PR China and I've got some magic beans to sell you...

Cheering for home-town heroes are quite normal; all fans in the world of sports do that. The British snooker fans actually exhibited gentlemanly sportsmanship that’s actually the spirit of this gentleman’s game. Apart from their own hard work and talent, the Chinese players actually owe it to Britain for providing an environment that’s conducive for snooker development. ( Most top Chinese players actually live in the UK)

I loved the end ot the match against Anthony Hammilton. The frame and match ball he worked out there. A plant into the middle leaving nothing if it doesn't go in. Shows his tactical skill as well. And I mean his Snooker brain is just ... not only the positional play but how he works things out. Giving himself options and rescuing situations that have gone slightly awry. Choosing the more difficult shot to obtain better position all of this reminds of Ronnie. What a silky touch. And I haven't even talked about his temperament. So calm and steady and not easily flustered. Just like you said. I thought he was done against Higgins. But he kept his cool and didn't changte his game or broke down or anything. He kept his cool and applied himself. Future champion imo.

5 years ago, I watched a match with Ronny at the 2016 English Open tournament, and I was amazed by his talent in that match. When I watched this finale, I thought of a TV series I watched in my youth, "The 6 Million Dollar Man". In the intervening time, I wondered if the Chinese did something to this child. :). Excellent, I hope it maintains this level for many years and gives pleasure to snooker lovers.

I also followed the same TV series in the 70's. However, snooker players, by and large, are individuals play for themselves, rarely represent their countries. The way Zhao pots so many long balls with such precision and ease, I don't blame you for drawing corelations with that old tv series. Zhao should be flattered as a compliment from you.
