I grew up in Bree, close to Luca’s hometown. When I was a student at Leuven University in the nineties, I used to go and watch the Crucible games in the student house’s owner’s kitchen. The owner, Jeff, was in his seventies, also from the same province in the east, and a huge snooker fan. When I knocked on his kitchen door, I was always greeted the same way: “there’s beer and snooker, you’ve chosen the best place!”. We both fell in love with the game of that young Scotsman who was destroying everyone. Watching this now slightly older Scotsman play with our young local hero, in our home province, is such a delight. Only wish Jeff had lived to see Luca play and win the WC.

If you only listened to the press about Luca Brecel, you'd think he was a party-boy who doesn't practise and doesn't love snooker. Thanks to these interviews you find out that he's actually quite introverted, doesn't practise but loves snooker! 😂 Great content as always, team 👏
@dekoener485 Жыл бұрын
He’s introvert indeed. I played league snooker here in Belgium back in the day when he was 13-14 and word went around that he was (a bit) authistic. If that is true I think he just learned to live with it. Not liking parties and such is typical for introverts and authistic people.

@@sharpvidtube For some reason all this mental illness stuff, though very good and important in real cases, has been taken too far into almost like a fashion statement thing now. People just love to label an box off themselves and everyone else for some reason these days. Everyone is different, that's just life, and you can be introverted and not feel forced to like partys and nonsense like that without everyone ganging up on you trying to label you "autistic". Anyone who's ever known a genuinely autistic person knows that's nonsense.

I can relate to Luca's "no practice" thing. Its a good argument for naturally talented players vs players that have learned the game, techniques etc. I'm an average club player, have never really practiced, just built up experience over time. I'm 50 years old, hadn't played for 3 weeks, chucked the balls on the table and made a 104 last week. Some guys enjoy the robotic practice, regimental style, striving for perfection etc, natural guys just have a "flow and feel". Looking forward to this season, I think we are about to see a shake up in the top 16 and a few players get a wake up call.
