This song was composed by a teenager who was being bullied as “girlish”. He couldn’t take the bully and committed suicide. Both Zhoushen and Gai were being bullied terribly before. Zhoushen was the one who specially chose and rearranged this song to encourage those who quietly suffer different means of bully to stand up and be the special “Blooming Self”. The first stanza Zhoushen sang was “Which rose doesn’t have thorns?” To bloom beautifully is the best way of revenge. This rearranged “Rose Boy” has encouraged numerous bullied souls. Well done Good Job Zhoushen and Gai Zhouyan. Their wish is being blessed!

Right after their performance, they were interviewed by the MC and our dear little prince, Zhou Shen, broke into tears emotionally and a piece of tissue was not enough to wipe his torrential tears. Really heart-breaking as from his victorious struggle, we came to understand that his past was really very hard for him along his growth. Even with his today's success, his tragic past experience cannot be fully soothed. Nowadays, there are still some harsh criticisms flooding him which are so painful to him as he is so well-loved and popular which led to jealousy from some narrow-minded people.

the original song doesn't have the rap part... zhou shen is very talented that he wants to try to duet with all kind of genre of music and how he can bring his styles into diff genre and make it better. that's zhou shen. exploring all kind of genre in music. and im sure most of them already told you that this song is about being bullied.. a tribute for a kid who died because of being bullied for his indifference. both the singer got bullied before when they were young for different reasons.. that's why this performance touches everyone's heart.

This song was first composed, written and sang by In Taiwanese artist Jolin Tsai together with Taiwanese singer and songwriter Ashin and Razor Chiang. The song was inspired by the story of Yeh Yung-chih, who had been long bullied for his perceived effeminate behavior and was found dead in school's restroom at the age of 15. This duet version incorporated with Rap element was also a sharing of Charlie and Gai's story. If you like Charlie, you may know he was also received a kind of bully when he was in high school, which he explained that his schoolmate were too young and didn't know that there language might hurt people, as well as in his early life as an artist, because of his “girlish” voice. but now we all understand his voice is so unique. I dont know Gai but believe he also has his story. That's why Charlie says if not with Gai he wont sing out this song. This song expresses their growth and their strength to against continuous bullies and crisitisim. They deleted some clauses of lyrics which incorporate the name of the boy, only because Charlie was inspired by the part of Chorus and he wanted to expressed most. People then attacked them with very cruel and insulting words . The two expressed a song to against discrimination received bully again. But if not their version, some ppl like me do not have the chance to know this song.

You should watch the longer version of this performance because right after their performance, they tell their feelings about this song and Zhou Shen can't hold his emotions any longer. He was tearing up a couple of times and he had to turn away from the camera. A lot of people on the internet attack them saying that they should not rearrange the song and also the lyrics because they will be lost the meaning of it. Honestly, they used the same melody and they also kept the important parts of the original and add something new related to their own story but they both also sing about bullying and if it is not because Zhou Shen sing this song with Gai, I will not even know this song and I will not also go to check the original one from Jolin's version.

@@coffeereaction In the other suggestion from the same person suggest another song called 冷酷到底( If translated directly should be 'Cruel till the end'). That song basically is talking about 2 people who got to break up their relationship and one of them said the other person should keep the cruel attitude till the end so the other one should not suffer from the breakup feelings so much. The amazing part is the end of the song. Zhou Shen and the other guy sing for over 16 seconds with only taking one breath and right after that Zhou Shen keeps on singing more without taking another breath to the end.

Rose Boy, A 15yo boy in 2000, thought to be too "effeminate" was found dead in his school's bathroom in a pool of blood . Dismissed by police and society as an accident. His mother fought to bring acceptance under law for LBGTQ youth in Taiwan and won. He is our equivalent of Mathew Shepard. Zhou Shen and Gai not only pay tribute to Yeh Yung-Chih but it is also about what both Zhou and Gia have had to endure. Zhou especially, Gia is tough he "doesn't care" but his respect for Zhou and others that are "different" is apparent in this. What they both want is for us to accept people for who they are.
