Thank you for posting this. This is the spear form I was learning from my teacher. Unfortunately, he died in September 2020 and we never did get to learn the whole form.

I do Yang taichi but I want to incorporate a Spear (and dao) form, so is it wierd for me to learn these Chen ones although my foundation is in Yang?

Can someone explain to me what the spinning is for? They do it several times so it must be important, but I just cannot work out when that would ever be used in combat.

Multiple purposes, deflecting and blood removal similar to the cossack shashka or sikh tulwar combat styles. Though personally i find spins to be more art than functional in my sparring experiences.
