Nah zhuge liang was the only thing keeping shu (Han) alive. Liu bei died a depressed man losing everything including his honor and his sworn brothers. Zhong fei would have died the same way. And guan yu his child (the one he dropped on the head) was in a power struggle and ended up dead. Guan yu was executed even so I don’t see how it would change because zhuge liang would have died anyway. But let me know how you feel. And I don’t mean to hurt anyone I’m just saying my opinion.

I think the reason Zhuge Liang has those 'lasers' is that they symbolise his yin element, so they're not so much lasers as they are light. This is in contrast to Sima Yi's darkness lasers that symbolise yang.

Sima Yi said that Zhuge Liang was the only man worthy of being a great opponent to him. Everyone else were just mere fools. Or imbeciles.... Zhuge Liang was a major threat to both Wu and Wei. After his death at the Wu Zhang Plains... the fall of Shu was just beginning. Sad to say.

What if… Liu Bei keeps Xu Shu at his payroll and Pang Tong survives. During the Battle of Fan Castle, Zhuge Liang deduces that Wu and Wei will attack Guan Yu at both fronts Zhuge Liang: Pang Tong, send a detachment of forces to aid General Yide (Zhang Fei) in the defense of Jingzhou against the treachery of Commander Ximing (Lu Meng). Xu Shu, march forth to Fan Castle and aid General Yunchang (Guan Yu) in the defense of the castle and hold off the Wei forces. After the joint Wei-Wu cheapshot is thwarted, Liu Bei and Sun Quan bury the hatchet and focus on defeating Wei. After seizing significant positions and land, the rejuvenated WuShu Alliance march forth to Xuchang and defeat Cao Cao in battle. Cao Cao dies a few days later and balance of the Three Kingdoms is maintained, albeit with Cao Pi as the ruler of the Wei

I heard that Jiang Wei wasn't even his successor it was another called Jiang Wan. Though he did end up being killed in a banquet with their own defectors, so them onwards where Jiang Wei had to take the responsibilities there after.

Hate to break this to you But if it's an event that happened in Romance of the Three Kingdoms popularized by Dynasty Warriors, then it's false. His inventions? False. Inventing the mantou/manjuu? False. Real life Zhuge Liang was a top tier civil admin however, though he and Chen Shou didn't have much good blood between each other. Zhuge Liang also had his own bias when chronicling the events of Shu himself, such as Pang Tong being ugly and Wei Yan's disloyalty. His fourth weapon's Asian name is named the "Zhuque/Suzaku Feather Fan". This is a nod to the Zhuque/Suzaku (lit. Vermilion Sparrow) being in the South, which references Shu's location being Southwest. His DW3 fifth weapon is named "Feng Dragon Feather Fan", referencing both Zhuge Liang's dragon motif and Pang Tong's Fenghuang/Hou'ou motif. His level 11 weapon is named after the Qinglong/Seiryuu (Azure Dragon) much like Guan Yu's iconic weapon. A double nod to DW Shu's dragon motif and Zhuge Liang's as well.

He came up with the ruse so he could still be useful to Zhou Yu cause Zhou Yu wanted to kill off Zhuge Liang ASAP out of both envy and being a long-term threat to Wu. DW4's cutscene regarding the wind at Chibi/Red Wall is the most accurate to the novel. Zhuge Liang knew the wind they needed was going to blow on that day. Real life Zhuge Liang and Zhou Yu were also barely involved with each other.

I don't blame you; a lot of stuff in RoTK was mainly propaganda due to the recent Jin kingdom being ravaged by both the War/Riot of the Eight Princes/Kings as well as the raid of the northern tribes gathering up in the south. And naturally, a lot of myths about Zhuge Liang like with Guan Yu's godhood, have been lionized in Chinese culture. People needed some shit to look to in a positive sense, so the original author of RoTK did just that for their sakes via lionizing the traits of Shu just so people can believe in some good in their lives back then. Real life Zhuge Liang however, was a bit of a not-as-modest guy as one would expect, but the notable positive qualities about him were his pure loyalty to Liu Bei, and that he managed to make sure in each of his Northern Campaigns, all of his armies withdrew with no major casualties. However, as he did things by the book, the rapidly changing environment of the battlefield caused his plans to often fail as he wasn't that good at adaptation. When it came to the main foundation of Shu, you have Fa Zheng to thank (as well as Fa Zheng being the main reason behind Liu Bei's only independent victory so far at Hanzhong). Real life Pang Tong was also the opposite of Zhuge Liang in a sense while he was crap at civil administration, he was a brilliant military strategist. It's not say that Zhuge Liang can't be a bad character though. It's just that to quote one infamous tumblr user, everyone sucks his dick way too much. Koei just puckers up to him too much like with Zhao Yun (is it any wonder why both of them are voiced in Japanese by Masaya Onosaka?) Of course, yes, a lot of stuff about Shu's figures were big myths, but once you get past all the bashing, it's easy to notice that Shu didn't have the quality historians back then that were on par with the ones about the Wei and Wu kingdom. And of course, Wu didn't get as much focus at all in RoTK.

Jiang wei did his best. Liu Shan was a suck ass emperor. He lacked any of the traits that made his father successful (maybe being thrown to the ground as an infant by said father has something to do it with) but has Liu Shan been Liu Bei 1.5 or even Liu Bei 2.0 Jiang Wei would have been successful.

Zhuge Liang probably is the most overhyped character of the books and consequently, the series. Most famous brilliant strategies were actually devised by Pang Tong or are believed to be just fantasy. Kongmin still was a brilliant administrator, but as a strategist, he was conservative and not open enough for council. His biggest weakness, perhaps, was his tendency towards nepotism. I would further argue that his three kingdoms strategy ultimately was a mistake because Zhuge Liang did not predict Wu allying with Wei to defeat Guan Yu. If Liu Bei had not declared himself emperor and if Shu gave Ling provide to Wu, they could have defeated Wei. Since Sun Quan had no ambition to become emperor, he probably could have been convinced to support Shu in exchange for being granted a big decree of autonomy. Also, the whole war against Wei lost its purpose when Liu Bei died because Liu Shan was not fit to rule and because Cao Pi died.

It's odd to see Zhuge Liang get so much praise even though he fails horribly and hardly gains any land except for defeating a bunch of barbarians. Then you have Cao Zhen be rather sucessful at defending against the campaigns and get treated like an incompetent dumbass. I just don't get it

Ikr. The writer of ROTK was a huge Zhuge Liang fanboy, he made him looks like best strategist in that era. Infact he is just a good one not the best. Even in Shu, he was not the best, Pang Tong and Fa Zheng were far more better than him. Honestly the whole northern campaign was a bad choice when I play that part even I realised that's a ridiculous plan. And don't forget his favorism costed Shu big losses. Instead of trusting last good Shu general Wei Yan, he chose his lackeys.

It's sad that he ended up causing many to think his work is the true history of the three kingdoms even though it wasn't he intention and it even says as such in the very prologue of the novel in the modern versions

ROTK Zhuge Liang would have reunited China in his lunch break. I can recall only one occasion where his plan did not work, a minor event with Sima Yi. Knows everything and has supernatural powers to match.

Busiao Zu oh yeah, Sima Yi is certainly overrated. I mean, RotK games give him 99 LDR. That's rediculous. But Zhuge Liang is certainly not much better. His greatest military accomplishments are when he's retreating. And the arrogant fool played favorites quite a bit and nearly completely ignored the skills of great officers. Plus, it should be noted that losing Jing shouldn't have caused such a disadvantage as he became allied again with the ones who took it. I should also mention is lack of ability to diversify his campaigns. All 5 of them had the same goal, and he failed all 5 without changing much of his plans. Zhuge Liang shouldn't have been leading these campaigns. I think he might've been better by 1) not punishing his officers the moment they mess up one thing and 2) putting someone else in charge so he can focus on the administration
