Not only do I think it's inappropriate to give a child the same name as the father, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't even allowed by Japanese law. But the idea that you love your husband and his name so much that you want to give it to your kids is something we don't have in Japan and I found it very beautiful. 😊
アイシャさん、you are so funny and I love how innocent you are!🤣💕 タカさん is totally right that it’s definitely not common to name your son after his father. It’s really interesting to find out American person’s point of view about things tho!
I think if they’re gonna grow up in Japan they should have Kanji. Even if they grow up in the states, there’s no con to having kanji- it’s the one thing that makes them unique. Also coming from a hafu person, if you don’t have kanji it reduces your identity as Japanese… sometimes it makes you feel distanced, which is sad. I’m so glad I was named Hannah because it’s an unusual name in both countries, and a single kanji is easy to write on a daily basis.

My goodness!! Glad I found this comment!! My two years old is Hana, same Kanji and mixed! Also her American teacher call her Hannah! Haha. Awe, hope my daughter will feel same way as you in the future. 😊

@@rmocha5776 Yay! Hannah is such a beautiful and unique name☺️ Please give my best wishes for your sweet little daughter💗✨
It’s really interesting. I don’t think it’s common to name the same name as parents in Japan. I wouldn’t do that. I’m living in Canada right now. My son’s friend has the same name as his father and grandfather. It’s totally cultural difference.

Yeah it’s so different. 100% of Japanese are saying “なし”😆
We are living in Sydney. My son has the same name as his dad. This is my husband's family thing. He has a Japanese name as his middle name. We call him by his middle name. When I registered him in Japan, the person in the city office asked me if it collects that he has the exact same name as his dad😂 But we could register. Maybe because he has a middle name as well.
My husband and his dad has the same name as well. I heard that it’s family tradition that first son gets his dad’s name. But I really don’t wanna name my son the same name, so we are planning on naming my son the grandpa of my husband’s name. And we are thinking on naming the name which works both in English and Japanese(Like George)
