(Geofessr in game) 2:46- One way to differentiate Ireland from the UK is phone numbers. All UK phone numbers had the prefix "01" added in 1995. Geographical phone numbers that do not start with "01" start with "02". The "01" numbers have equivalents of letters after the 1 indicating the geographic area. Remember 1 has no letters. 01X1 is Birmingham (B=2), Edinburgh (E=3), Glasgow (G=4), Liverpool (L=5) and Manchester (M=6). 01XX codes where XX are the first two letters of a town with the letter "O" represented by zero instead of 6. 020 is London. In addition, that Irish phone number has only nine digits, and UK phone numbers with area code typically have ten digits. 8:39- Oil palms. They have to be deeply tropical- the Brisbane area is too cold for them and in Australia they are only grown in Far North Queensland. They are grown in enormous plantations in some places, notably Sumatra and Borneo. In North America they are mostly in a single enormous stand around the oil palm refining town of Sayaxché in Petén province of Guatemala. In US grocery stores, palm oil products tend noticeably to come from Guatemala, which I think is the result of US trade incentives. 10:01- The metal pole in the distance is the Israeli Pole of Death, which in a closeup has a yellow sign in Hebrew, Arabic, and English saying "Risk of Death". 14:15- None of the signs has the more angular Tamil script- they are in Sinhala alone. This tends to indicate that the location is not in the north or on the east side of the island, or in Colombo. Tamil script samples can be seen on the map in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, which is the mainland next to Sri Lanka. 16:23- Zakarpatska province ("Transcarpathia") looks like Slovakia or Hungary because it was never part of the Russian empire until annexation by the Soviet Union in World War II. Similar architecture is found in other western areas of Ukraine, especially around L'viv (more Polish) and Chernivtsi (more Romanian). These areas also are the part of Ukraine where there are a lot of churches are Catholic and not Orthodox. Similarly, Kaliningrad (Russia) has German architectural influence and Protestant churches. 21:22- New York has gone to a white plate beginning in 2021 but these yellow ones are found on almost all coverage. New Mexico also has yellow plates but obviously from the architecture and trees you know it's not New Mexico. I knew it was Albany because in the background you can see the New York state capitol building. 24:11- "göl" means "lake" in Turkic languages and in Mongolian. The Kyrgyz for this is "Көл". Also the signs' style is found throughout Turkey. 25:42- "Skopje" in Cyrillic contains the "Cyrillic J", pronounced like English Y. This is only found in Serbo-Croatian, Montenegrin, and Macedonian. Other Cyrillic contains a double set of "hard" and "soft" vowels to indicate this instead, with "й" representing the sound after a vowel. 28:30- Those blue Russian bornes have a single sequence for the entire road and so can have very large values of km. I think numbers in the thousands are only found in the road to Vladivostok. The only place where I have seen "bornages" with four digits outside of Russia is in Chile, but they are reported to also exist on some roads in Ontario (11 and 17), Quebec (138) and the Alaska Highway. The USA has no states other than Alaska with roads long enough to have values over 1000, with the largest one on Interstate 10 in Texas near the Louisiana border marking 880 miles (1416 km). 31:52- "Sklep" is "store" in Polish. There is a W in a Slavic language, which is only Polish. It is even seen on that sign as a word by itself, which I think is unique to Polish. The only significant Geoguessr languages where W is commonly seen are English, Dutch, German, Malay, Indonesian, and transliterations from other alphabets such as Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and Arabic. Hungarian does NOT have W. "Rz", "cz", and "szcz" are also markers of Polish. "Sz" before a vowel can be either Polish or Hungarian, but "szi" is Hungarian and "szy" is Polish.

Getting into GeoGuessr lately and watching some of these older ones that show up on the youtube recommended. The Albany one was insane, because I grew up going to the church on the right side of the street. That was the easiest 5k of my life and then of course you somehow also pulled it off too out of nowhere. Love these play along videos

These videos are so great. Managed to beat you by a handful of points in round 3 (24,061). That being said, you're obviously going for general areas where I was searching for 5k (got 3). The little into section you have on your videos is something that I try to skip because it's almost always some kind of a spoiler for play along videos. Keep these up please, they're helping my game heaps!

In the Canadian round, you can see a street sign "Rang 5", which is French-language terminology used for generic numbered rural roads used in Quebec, so that would be a big giveaway for that round as well.

Another thing for the round at 5:00, the stubby antenna in Cambodia, Indonesia, and LatAm is different. Cambodia has a very tight spiral around the antenna (usually 3 or 4 rings visible), Indo has no spiral, and LatAm has a smaller spiral (usually only one or two rings visible).

13:31 This phrase could be deciphered as 'ВЫСОКОЕ НАПРЯЖЕНИЕ ОПАСНО ДЛЯ ЖИЗНИ', which means 'DANGER HIGH VOLTAGE' translated from.. Russian! So that's a little bit tricky actually, because Russian language can be seen as common as Ukrainian in southern or eastern regions, sometimes even being dominant, like in Crimea

In game 2 the biggest upset was that I tried to use the sun trick on the Sri Lanka. I would have guessed Sri Lanka had I not looked at the sun, but the sun forced me to guess Indonesia and I didn't like it, as that martial art or military symbol reminded me about Sri Lanka or borderline Malaysia. I guess the sun isn't always that reliable. By the way, seems like the position of the google car in my guesses are a bit misaligned from yours. And yours had some censoring that I didn't have.
