I was there. We were a few Frenchmen amongst a stadium full of Englismen. I remember the Game Posters in the city, "The best team in the world versus the French". Nice tongue in cheek. Didn't pay off in the end obviously. It was a different era. No official supporters association, we even showed up at the French training somewhere in a London suburb. We spoke (briefly) to the players, nobody was there besides us and a few journalists from Telefoot. After the two goals, while cheering, we got some hostile gaze from the English crowd but nothing more. The old Wembley was a great stadium. I was young and still passionate about the game. Those days are long gone. Fond memories.

Qu'est-ce qu'il ne faut pas lire comme ineptie. La CDM 98 est tout sauf achetée : Zidane prend un rouge en poule ce qui fait que l'EDF est moins bonne et a failli être éliminée lors des 1/8° de finale... Alors faut arrêter d'inventer des bêtises. Si la France avait acheté la CDM 98, elle aurait gagner tous ses match sans prendre de risque de prolongation et surtout des tirs au but contre l'Italie, qui était une des favourites comme la France.

Le problème c'est qu'aujourd'hui, dans l'équipe de France, ils ont tous un problème de finition (les ratios tir au but/tir cadré sont souvent à se taper la tête contre les murs, et indignes du niveau international). A côté de Dembelé et consors, Dugarry était, en effet, un modèle de précision dans le jeu de passe et la finition. Sa passe sur le deuxième but d'Anelka, en est bien la preuve.
