Yes! Unforgettable game! I remember rushing home from school early to watch this game. It was a tough match against a strong Dortmund side with Koller, Rosicky, Lehman and others. It was a frustrating, nail-biting game. Madrid was on the brink of elimination and then Portillo scored in the closing minutes to send us through to the next round. Unforgettable times. My heart is still racing :)

Yes! Like that famous goal against Valencia after some Zidane magic in midfield. But this was perhaps his most important goal for Real Madrid. This goal saved Real Madrid from being knocked out of champions league. And Portillo had another great chance to score in quarterfinals against Manchester United in 2nd leg. Zidane played a step over pass to him and he was one on one with Barthez but shot wide. I loved Portillo. He was one of the brightest prospects of that first galactico era but unfortunately he did not fulfill his potential. But he would always be remembered for this goal.

He got Ronaldo running in the right while Raul was in front of the goal pinning the defenders he chose instead to pass it to Portillo totally unmarked and just arriving in the box he puts it in a comfortable place in front of him to shoot almost right from the penalty spot!
