Oozes class. best first touch of any player. the way he receives the ball in tight areas and turn it into gold passes into wide space in the direction of attacking teammate with only 1 or 2 touches and in outstanding style time and time again vs top teams is just a full proof of the quality of the player for anyone who knows how football works. thanks again man. job very well done.

1999-2000 was season when Zidane earned reputation as best player in the world and continued till 2004 then Ronaldinho took over. before 1999-2000 season he was always called as just one of the best.

Good analysis, but I would say it was more 1998(Post World Cup and Ballon 'Dor) to about 2003.

@@MinhNguyen-vl6ul 1998/99 season Juve suffered injuries to many players. The reason Zidane was rubbish was not just because of del piero's absence. Nevertheless Inzaghi, Di livio, Davids was consistent. zizou was still strong in big games. for example, 1998-99 15R AC Milan 1-1 Juventus(great Performance), 20R Juventus 2-4 Parma(although defeated, he did well). and Also He's got 4 Assists in the UCL. In particular he gave decisive assists in the last two matches of the group stage. and he did well against Quarter-Final Olympiacos, Semi-Final Man Utd. After Semi-Final 2nd Leg, Nicky Butt said "The Ball stuck to Zidane's boots. it's obvious that he had a bond on it. He wasn't that big, but he was really strong. I couldn't even touch him. I tackled and stole the ball, he still owned the ball. I looked stupid myself. I didn't fear Zidane as much as Eric Cantona until then, but after that I saw him and felt 'Wow, zidane is a genius' In fact, Zidane was not rubbish in 1996/97 season when 4 forward (Del Piero, Vieri, Boksic, Padovano) was injured or rotation. he rather was great. Zidane had 1996/97 Serie A Foreign Player of the year Award, also I think he did better in UCL. Since Carlo Ancelotti became the director, Juve tactically became Zidane-Centric team. zidane was better than del piero who returned to injury (1999-00, 2000-01 season)

@@MinhNguyen-vl6ul Interestingly enough you fail to mention that the 98/99 season was Zidane's most injury plagued season as well. A niggling knee injury that began around November of that season and pretty much hampered him all season. Zidane had knee surgery the following summer.

@@MinhNguyen-vl6ul Well I just gave you a reason as to why Zidane's form was inconsistent. Injuiries do that to people. Listen, the period of Zidane's reign at the top, in this case of in or around 5 years wouldn't literally have him above everyone else each season. Ofcourse Rivaldo had a phenomenal year, winning the Ballon d'or at the back of a Copa America. Figo was fantastic in 2000. But I'm certain you be hard done by to name me 3 players who could of even of managed being at the top for a period of 5 years or so🤔 As for Del Piero, in the five season Zidane and Del P played together..never once did Del P manage to place above Zidane in the Ballon D'Dor ranking.

@@MinhNguyen-vl6ul I'm not interested in the personal opinion that you underestimate zidane or you say zidane inferior to rivaldo/figo/shevchenko. Even I'm a big fan of Zidane, sometimes think that Xavi/Iniest/Modrich are better than Zidane. What I want to tell you that is the facts you are mistaken. Again mention, 1998/99 season Juve suffered injuries to many players. The reason Zidane was rubbish was not just because of del piero's absence. 1997-98 Season Zidane played 32games (Serie A Campione), UCL 11games(Runner-up). but 1998-99 season zidane played 25gaems (Serie A 7th ranked. not 8th place), UCL 10games(Semi-final). how would you explain going to the UCL semi-finals without del piero?
