Any midfielder could learn something from Zidane. Looking at stats doesn't make sense. For Madrid, he played more left, not central. He was only an attacking midfielder by title due to his talent. He crossed on his left foot a lot due to being on the left although he was right footed. He has so many plays where he's collecting the ball from the defense like T Kroos. Zidane was more concerned with keeping possession, similar to modric and iniesta (who also don't have amazing stats). Zidane is the best player I've seen in one package at 1. ball possession 2. first touch into space/ controlling the ball 3. natural play on both right and left foot 4. shielding the ball/ anti press/pressure 5.passing on the inside and outside of his left and right football equally 6. bringing in wing backs/wingers (both sides R. Carlos or switching to Figo/Beckham) into play 7. football IQ. He is the only top 10 attacking player without break neck speed(along with Cruyjff. ) (Pele, Maradona, Messi, Cr7, R9, Dinho, Baggio, Garrincha, Best, Di Stefano, Zico) so to outsiders/casuals he isn't as flashy/ spectacular. But to people who played the game, he makes the complicated look so easy. He did not play in the centre behind the strikers all the time in Madrid (unless for France). He was closer to the defense for Juve, he was just great at running with the ball and initiating one twos for space, this would allow him space to play a final ball. Zidane was not concerned with being the scorer or gaining an assist. But he is the most fundamentally sound player I have ever seen. Even his bad games show how easily he looked on the ball. Football is very hard sport where you need coordination. For short clips, you could watch neymar, robinho, ben arfa, taarbat, Denilson....for gameplay and controlling an entire game, making the right decisions, you must watch Zidane.

Excellent analysis, mate. But - to be fair, in old clips of Cruyff he seems to be lightning quick compared to most if not all of his opponents (yes, players weren't generally as fit back then as they are now - but remember that Cruyff himself used to smoke 40 cigarettes a day, even in the locker room😅)

Imo Zidane wasnt closer to defence at Juve, just at Calcio the space was more tight and he was facing more tackle then in Spain

Did you realize that zidane is everywhere in the field his work rate is really underated . Nobody is going to fill them shoes, even Jude can't. Zidane is irrepeatable

Jude is obviously not near level of Zidane in dribbling, skills. But in terms of work rate Jude also tend to be everywhere to be fair.

Zidane...Savio...Figo! Plenty creativity in that triangle! I really wanted Portillo to make it big at Real Madrid. He is perhaps my all-time favorite Canterano. Enjoyable video as always!

I have never even known this game existed! was it pre-season friendly? Yet again Portillo got nice assist by Zidane and did not disappoint.

Hello, I saw on your channel a very cool video of Zidane's game in the match France - Ukraine in 2004. Please tell me, do you have the full recording of this match? I'm from Ukraine and I make football videos and I need this match. I will be grateful for the answer.
