Paraphrasing the video description: The piece was written by Liu Tian Hua in 1929. The composition combines 5 techniques that imitate the style and sound of the guqin instrument. It also blends musical elements that were popular in local folk music in Beijing. Historically, during the Lantern Festival (the 15th day of the lunar new year), the evening curfew in the Tang dynasty capital Chang'an was lifted. Everyone, from the ruling class to the commoners, enjoyed an evening outdoors with beautiful lanterns. The stage production in the video is inspired by that evening of Lantern Festival in the Tang dynasty.
