She would talk about HERSELF if she wanted attention on her. She talks about her ex because she that white person that wants to come off as cultured. "I have a black friend" or "I dated an Asian guy once". She like Zeid being jealous because its reassurance that this YOUNGER man is attracted to her without saying it directly to her. She didn't say she got off on his outrage and said his outrage over the male gaze was a red flag. Her experience with men of that culture has been abuse but doesn't want to believe they're all that way

Zain, thank you SO much for explaining the difference b/t "controlling" AND "protective" - bc there IS a difference, & even as an Arab/ Muslim girl who grew up in the U.S., it can be VERY difficult to understand. I am married to a man from the Iraq - so he of course, carries many very protective qualities. Especially bc he grew up in a home with 6 sisters ( he is very close to them ) & he adores his mother. In the beginning of our relationship, I was quick to interpret his words /actions as controlling & "red flags". However, he is most DEF not controlling, but he sincerely likes to know I am well & not in need of anything- ( if I need help, in all fairness, I am an epileptic... ) I just want to share my experience though bc, as a woman completely immersed ( adopted into, literally ) the U.S / Western view of "womanhood" - it was extremely challenging @ first! I also like that you touched upon the topic of when these women from the U.S. go to these parts of the world. They have little understanding & NO RESPECT for the reality that it could truly be DANGEROUS for a woman to be seen or act a certain way & the men they visit could simply be looking out for their safety!! ( Idk- I got that feeling when I 1st saw this scene myself. 🤷 )

I'm always amazed by the reactions of the Americans. Have you never been outside the US? Security checks are commonplace. In some countries you are asked to open your purse or backpack before entering a mall and then walk through a metal detector. Same with commuter train travel. As for driving, I have driven in almost all the countries I've visited excluding Egypt. There lines are merely suggestions but I found it amazing how a two laned road can fit 5 cars across. Is it the same in Morocco or Tunisia? If so, I won't be driving there.

My husband is also very protective but I respect that, I think it’s very disrespectful to call him controlling because he isn’t at all. My husband will never tell me what I can or can’t wear all he says is “babe please don’t wear that because I don’t want people to look at you inappropriately and flirt with you”, he has gotten into fights before when I went over to Egypt to our house, we went on a date in a fancy restaurant and these men kept giving me their numbers, trying to buy me drinks, I found it extremely rude and disrespectful because they did all this in front of my husband, so he threw the first punch and we got kicked out of the restaurant but that didn’t stop my husband from fighting them outside, to be honest the only time I not many men flirted with me is when I was pregnant then they would leave us alone and tell my husband he is a lucky man other than that I always get harassed so I can completely understand why Zied acted like that. We now live together in Egypt again (I moved there before the corona virus luckily) and we prefer to stay inside because he doesn’t want to have to fight every guy that flirts with me and it is very upsetting and tiring for me also, if we want to go out we take our son with us inside the stroller *edit* sorry for bad English as Spanish is my first language haha

I can’t STAND aggressive drivers who get all frantic and angry in traffic. They’re pissed at the other drivers, but it’s the people in the car with them who suffer, there’s no way to get away, and raging at everything doesn’t change a damned thing about it, so make the best of it and calm down. Have a conversation with your passengers. Listen to music. Suck it up.

3:40 Okay I know Rebecca is a whiny Karen, but I actually empathize and understand her stress here. Not only did she just have to blow a huge chunk of her 3 week budget on a rental car she didn’t anticipate paying for, but she also has to drive in a foreign land that has completely different driving practices in the US. I’ve been driving here for 17 years, never had an accident, and there are still some places I would never want to drive in because there’s so hectic (example, Los Angeles, New York City) but those still pale in comparison to driving in some places in the Middle East or North Africa. Not to mention having to deal with foreign law enforcement if you screw up. That being said, Rebecca’s nerves were justified here.

Yeah her filter usage was excessive! Still I'm sure he knew Rebecca was using them as they did video calls. Why was Rebecca so surprised about the driving in Tunisia? She's been to Morocco. I hate when couples call each other baby all the time. My ex did this, and I hated it! Yeah people choose to be offended. Now I can imagine Rebecca with that guy in the club. It annoyed me that she's upset about Zied's jealousy it's to be expected, and this isn't Rebecca's first time in North Africa.

I understand the “baby” thing...to me it’s like they say “baby” so they don’t confuse you with another girl or guy...or they just too lazy to call you by your name. It seems very fake to me tbh. Maybe once in a great moon but always ughhh 🤪

The RISK she took! Insane. What if he had left her dead in a foreign country? She doesn't have the mentality to be with him, either. My father would have disowned me if I'd gotten tattoos!
