@@CraigMarshall_HDvideo4K I am located about nine thousand miles east of Australia but for the past few years have been listening to abc Hobart during their overnight. The guest host mentioned how he used to work for commercial radio and hated commercials. Suddenly I was struck with what was missing. I like foreign commercials. So I searched for commercial talk radio and found 2gb Sydney overnight show and they were interviewing the zigzag spokesman. It was a chance encounter. I love steam and mountains.

It's amazing seeing trains on the zig zag railway run again. Also what will happen with the three dd17 locomotives 1046, 1047, and 1049?

I really hope so, QR is not going to finish restoring their sister 1051, so us Queenslanders will have to come to NSW to see one of our Tank Engines running again.

I would love to see the 5711 from valley heights restored and running the zig zag
@CraigMarshall_HDvideo4K Жыл бұрын
5711 is a true monster but unfortunately the 3'6" gauge of the current ZZR would prevent her running. The ZZR's own Garrett may be restored one day.

Pre trip examination of the locomotive should include checking the operation of the sanding gear. If the rear sands were defective, the loco should not have left the shed!
@CraigMarshall_HDvideo4K2 жыл бұрын
Which is why, as explained in the accompanying text, it was a driver training exercise.
@johnflynn57502 жыл бұрын
@@CraigMarshall_HDvideo4K with all due respect, the training starts with the preparation of the loco which in this case fell short of the mark.
@nadnerb2k2 жыл бұрын
@@johnflynn5750 considering that this is a training run, and sand can stop working at any time, I think you can drop from your minimum standards high horse. Crew need to learn how to manage wheel slip, sand or no sand. They're not carrying passengers. They've got the staff for the section. Worst case scenario, the train has to return to bottom points using gravity. None of this requires the frankly hysterical objections you're putting up.

@@nadnerb2k I think with John Flynn's previous 12 years and 10 months experience as Zig Zag Railway's Workshop Supervisor he would be familiar with the organisation's steam locomotives, operations and crew training procedures
