I can see why drummers love this groove. I usually focus on bass, but even I couldn't ignore how much the drums contribute.

The most devastating groove ever recorded.

as a drummer zig opened me up to ‘linear’ playing aka not only hitting one thing at a time or leaving out everything else when playing something in a groove; mike clark has his paradiddle thing, bonham well he’s about feeling they all are it’s that magic touch that is not teachable and I can hear if a student has it within 5 minutes

When the rest of the band is just as excited to play with the guest as the audience is to see him......

Classic how he missed the snare hit at the very end of the vocal intro. Band should have adapted and waited for his hit. Quick recovery with another hit to jump into the groove. Amazing feel with great variations. He doesn't bother with the kick on the e of 3. Noticed he doesn't do it when teaching the beat either or in other performances. Probably just something he played the day he recorded it or how he used to play it back then. But mostly about the feel. Master of grease!

I agree, the snare hit is the cue to come in and I’m sure Zig thought the band would be following him.

noticed that too! the e of 3 aligning with the lh is some decently challenging coordination that is probably unnecessary in a live setting
