The first song I ever learned to play by myself. No tabs, no sheet music, nothing. And well before anyone ever heard of KZbin. Just sheer repetition/experimentation with the chords I knew, until I got it to sound right. I still can't believe how much Mr. Bowie's passing is hitting me. I'm deeply saddened by the loss of someone who's music has been so much a part of my life. I know I'm not alone in that.

Haven't played my guitar in yonks. But this made me dust it off and have ago. Many thanks for sharing. I was so so lucky to see Bowie as Ziggy in 73, here in Oxford. The costume changes, mime and friends from school with flashes on their faces. Fantastic gig. His best era for me. If you walked round school carrying Ziggy Sardust, Alladin Sane or Hunky Dory you were the dogs.

I don't often comment on these tutorials but in this case I have to commend you Justin for doing this. David Bowie was legendary and this takes me back some 40 years (yeah I'm 60) and it stirred a lot of old memories. People these days are very fortunate to have people such as yourself posting these videos. We used to learn this stuff by listening to the record or cassette tape and sheet music if you were fortunate enough to even find it anywhere - and it certainly wasn't free. My hat goes off to you for this one - very well done!!

Thank you so much Justin!!!! So fantastic. I don't really know how to play the guitar AT ALL (that makes 3 instruments I don't really know how to play the piano, the trumpet & the guitar), however now that my 8 year old son is almost playing better than I am I thought I would come back to it. This video is something I played with a while ago but then gave up on, figuring I would never be able to play it. You have now taught me how to play Ziggy Stardust!!!! I have figured it out thanks to you. Bowie was such an incredible gift to our world, was lucky enough to see him 3 times and his music is still as impactful in my life as it ever was. Now that my son has taken up the guitar I can't wait to teach him about Bowie. I've never wanted to steer him towards who he likes and doesn't like, other than raising both my children on The Beatles. He has had his stages already, Kiss, The BeeGees, (living in Canada) The Tragically Hip, The Band, Elton John but I have slowly started to introduce Ziggy Stardust into his life, this will go a long way. Friday night he is playing his first Open Mic, he is going to play Love Me Do!!!! Thanks again Justin!!!!

Funny in a way, I have had a David Bowie C D playing non stop in my car all through Xmas and new year( Reliving my musical youth), and I have been marveling at how creative he and his band were, just to come up with endless music just amazes me. I think anyone who had Bowie's music as a backdrop to their lives, felt or witnessed something very special. Well done Justin on doing a Bowie classic. Cheers "Look at those cavemen go, it's the freakiest show. Is there life on Mars?"

I met Ronno in Seattle and he showed me the correct way to play the song. I said I wasn't happy how anemic the pinky trill sounded when I hit the D chord. He showed me that he played it like a barre chord D hammeron to give it a bigger "tone".
