My Sabian B8 hats sound almost identical. I think they're slightly brighter and heavier. I've played both in person. Maybe you could hammer the B8 hats a little bit and they'll sound just like this.

I played a friend's 10yr old K Constantinople hats and loved them but am afraid that the newer manufacturing on these have changed the tonality. Would love to find an older pair like my buddy's. I also find it weird that they sell these hats as individual tops and bottoms and not as matched pairs. Do they all have the same thicknesses and weights within this hi hat series?

+Steve Douglas too bright and not dry enough for omy taste, paiste dark energy are much better in my opinion

+Jorge Villegas ...Found an older pair of the K Constantinople Hats that are much dryer than the new ones. I would love to find or trade for a Paiste Dark Energy Mk 1 21" ride. I was told at NAMM that they have been discontinued.

Steve Douglas Dark energy is really awesome; I am playing 17,18 crashes along with twenty masters medium 2o ride, twenty masters dark crisp ride, 18 signature full ride, twenty custom full crash and 602 modern essentials hi hats and twenty 18 thin china but I am searching a dark energy hi hats second hand that I think are way better than new Cons and at least as bit as good as the old style cons. Today I visited a dealer in Barcelona, Spain, and I played a beautifully paiste ride; a twenty light ride, really wonderful for mistic playing not as dry as the dark energy but sweeter but both are fantastic sounding, I also listen to Smyrna cymbals, another turkish brand and I really liked a lot, much btter than some expensive sabians in the same shop although I must admit that the 18 legacy crash was really wonderful...

thanks for the link but curiously someone in the same reherseal center where I play is selling one¡¡¡¡ by the way, the tone of the twenty light ride 22 that I briefly played in a shop at barcelona pursued me and so I had to buy it¡¡ really nice and esoterics, what a wonderful ride it is, not as dry as the DE, but sweteer¡¡
