Just bought the 22" and am absolutely delighted with it. One of the best cymbals I've ever owned (been playing for 40 years).

Hey Danny, on May 7th, 1969, Remo Belli and Louie Bellson came to my hometown for our school band Concert featuring Louie, and at the afternoon drum clinic I asked Remo about his favorite drummers and he said you were the best of the guys playing out there. I just thought that I’d pass that along. Cheers!

I got a 22 ride a avedis and it is awesome. He is right it sounds exactly like a ride should sound.

I've loved Danny's playing since I first heard him in June 1969 with CTA. I have a question: What is "organic"? I understand "bright", "dark" and "trashy". But applying these other adjectives confuse me. I've been playing all models of Zildjian's since the mid-60's in rock and jazz. Loved them all, but I do have favorites - just like family members.

now if they can just make a decent swish knocker in that line because they sure don't have a good one now

Everything he says about these cymbals is true! I still have mine (pre-A Series) from the mid-60's which sound as good as ever. These cymbals can do it all, from soft jazz to pop to rock. Listen to the original CTA album to see how great these sounded when Danny played them then. I've heard him three times, in 1969, 1970 and 1971.

Are they as expensive as the K line, or reasonable like the A line ?
@handidrummed7 жыл бұрын
Closer to K pricing. The 22" A Avedis for example is about $409. A 22" K Ride is $424 and a 22" A Medium Ride is $339.

What's a few thousand bucks for cymbals? a mere bag of shells....$500 for hi-hats alone. Is anything good reasonably priced anymore?
@bobbydtv18 жыл бұрын
your 100% right its disgusting how much stuff cost now and there are so many of the same sounding cymbals but different companies being made .Research your sound know what you want ,in my case after 40 years i found paiste sig full ride to be one of the best , and meiln makes a jazz china ride similar to the old swish knocker which zildjian fail to make in this age .You cant ever go wrong with zildjians custom crashes they are smooth as butter and of course hi hats are always the hardest for a drummer to find. Sabians groove hats are outstanding as the paiste sig crisp hi hats are the sweetest i ever heard (thats just my opinion of course ) i also had great luck with older model, even hollow logo new beats which i own 4 pair ,and then there is always buying used and theres a lot of awesome deals out there .enough of these ridiculous prices i no longer need to buy anymore stuff because i stocked up over the years ,ank goodness too.

I got custom dark set; a 16 an 18 a 20 and high hats for a price that was 500$ less than if i bought them all together at my local music store. The problem is a lot of people already have certain cymbals and want to mix and match and if you are a noobie you are never gonna spend 700$ on a cymbal set. If you're getting rid of your beginner crap though cymbal boxsets are unquestionably the way to go.

Had Enough--This is why i'll hunt down local deals for used vintage gear, rather than buy something that costs 10x as much, and is not even manufactured the same way.. I just found 3 deals on local classifieds for vintage 70's hollow logo Zildjian 22" 20" rides and crash rides, all for under $160 CDN dollars.. Zildjian can go to hell with their insane product price point..

Bosphorus Traditional series. Totally handmade,hand hammered,play better,sound better and cheaper than ANY mass produced shit.

Yeah I remember in 1967 a 18" A zildjian crash was $40. They have priced these things right out of the stratosphere.

@austinshoupe30035 жыл бұрын
Bland, but good at it. They’re probably the closest in sound to retro drums, snares aside. They have a retro line that’s well liked and they own Gretsch and, just recently, slingerland. It makes sense.

@austinshoupe30035 жыл бұрын
@@sethyboo2361 That has not been my experience. Ludwig, until recently, just kept going cheaper and cheaper. They've only stayed afloat on brand recognition.

You were kicked out of Chicago band many many years ago. Why in the world did you put Chicago name on the head of these drums? Maybe if your were easier to get along with and stopped trying to be a Hitler in the band they would not have thrown you out. You were my hero and inspiration way back then. Then you went downhill.
@gumbly7 жыл бұрын
The logo was for the Rock and Roll Induction Ceremony for Danny and Chicago. Danny hasn't played with the band for 20 years, and if you watched his speech at the ceremony, you can see and hear that his heart has been with the band long since he was ousted, and he was jacked to play with his old mates again.

SuperDrummer311 Wow. Using Hitler as an analogy is a bit over the top ey?
@rhythmista77077 жыл бұрын
SuperDrummer311--First off, "NOT", in regards to your username.. Second, that has to be the most asinine comment i've read in regards to any music artist, let alone famous drummers.. How in the fuck do you know what they went through with him, or vice versa, when you're only speculating on what you've no doubt read about in some music publication, journal, or any other media outlet ? Are you friend's with any band members to know such specific detail ? I'm guessing no.. WIth that being said, your "Hitler" analogy is way out of line, and beyond idiotic.. It's KZbin trolls like you who pollute cyberspace with your insignificant ranting, and cry baby demeanor which makes you not only look like a complete asshat, but a superb jerk as well.. Stop living in the past like a hurt fanboy, and realize that what you have to say about this man, or his old band, means absolutely nothing..
@mariosangermano6 жыл бұрын
You are an idiot. You should actually do a study of the history of why he was let go from Chicago. Had nothing to do with him being hard to get along with, or being a hitler as you call him, which is strange. And he co founded Chicago and I'm sure he still has pride in that. Again, you're an idiot. Engage your brain before speaking next time.
@cynthiariordan10465 жыл бұрын
He can use the Chicago association if he wants to, putz. And don't be so quick to drink the band's Koolaid--they ALL had their issues, too. Do your own thinkin'.
