Thanks for this great video! Very informative. There’s no one I’d rather hear play K’s than John Riley. He makes them come alive.

My 22 Bounce has a Dark Wobbly Drone. It is loud with hickory and soft shimmer with brushes. You get what you pay for and keep it for Life!

I’m very happy with my KCon’s 14” HiHats , 18 crash , 20 med , 20 MTL and 22MTL among many others K’s and Kerope

Kcon seems to be the best rival for it's vintage counterpart out of all the videos in the series.... slight preference to the vintage hats but EVERYTHING is gorgeous. I'm a Kcon player, 22MTL 20 MTL and a 16" suspended... cymbal heaven. I just need one more 20" :P

I have the 20" Crash/Ride. Love it.

Whenever metal vibrates it creates a "fatigue" which alters the sound. It loses the higher frequencies. So an older cymbal will sound more mellow, not because it was made differently, but because it's been played longer. The Constantinople cymbals sound much more like the old K's than the new K's do.

Aaaaand all that goes out the window when you hear old recordings and they sound the same.

Best Constantninoples in my opinion: 1. 22" Constantinople Light Ride around 2200 grams (To me sounds the darkest!!) 2. 22" Bounce Ride around 23xx-2500 grams All sound different for different applications!

I've never owned any K's new nor old. But i've always wanted a selection of them.

I own one and love it. Peter Erskine ride stick and SD2 Bolero make an incredible jazz sound on mine

Too bad Paul left Zildjian... he WAS so integral to the brand. I don’t buy Z’s anymore but loved the guy

Can you do the same with paiste?
@farshimelt5 жыл бұрын
What do you mean, "do the same?" For the most part every Paiste of the same size and type will sound the same. A 20" medium ride of the same series will sound the same as others in that series.

@@farshimelt He means an indepth look at the Paiste brand.. like this video lol.

The the real truth about cymbals is the longer you have play them the more carictar you get.

Honestly, I wouldn't accept any of those new ones as gifts. On the other hand, I'd pay new prices for those old ones.

Honestly the old Vintage 60-70s A series sound better than most anything Zildjian today, yet they're less than 1/2 the price of new and still in playable condition.
