He's completely unbelievable in his technical abilities. I know this is a bold statement and I'll get shit for saying it, but Nate Smith's hi-hat chops are the closest anyone has ever gotten to Buddy Rich, and arguably in some ways even better. One of the videos I highly recommend if you having seen it yet is Nate Smith's set on NPR Night Owl. Look up his song called "Skip Step" on that series.

Basically that term came about when people started fusing alot of different chops from all genre's of music but it got labeled gospel chops!?
