Zimbabwe's Chamisa announces MDC name change ahead of by-elections

Zimbabwean opposition leader Nelson Chamisa has announced that his party will drop its contested name - MDC. He will contest the upcoming March by-elections under the banner of the Citizens Coalition for Change. He spoke to #Newzroom405.

@@zodwagumede5700 yes, but it’s also tribal and the elections are also rigged. The average and casual observer, let alone Zimbabweans don’t understand how entrenched and deep seated the issue is. The country is run and controlled by a cartel, elections are just a window dressing exercise. Normal rules do not apply, so the prospect of a free and fair election is near zero.

My honest opinion is that it is a waste of time and money having elections in Zimbabwe unless SADC and the AU can reign in the ZANUPF. At least three of the past elections were won by the opposition, but the opposition was cheated out of becoming government. SADC and the AU did nothing. Furthermore Zimbabweans in large numbers still go an vote ZANUPF and then disappear from their country to South Africa and become a problem there.
