Mr. Zimerman in my opinion is one of the greatest Chopin interpreters ever. The fact that he grew up in a Piano building family and has the knowledge and understanding of the art of Piano (both creating and playing) really shows and creates an unparalleled performer.
@John-thinks3 жыл бұрын
2:00 such a radically different interpretation than that of an older Zimerman. Unique in his enlivening of the tremors in the left hand and the subtle phrased legato in the right hand.

Best (partial) Chopin Concerto No. 1 I have ever heard. Gives me tears almost every time I listen/watch this clip. Even later recordings of the same piece by Zimerman don't have the same inspiration, fire and technical brilliance. I'd give an empire (mine is small I confess) for the entire recording of this piece.

haha, LOL. you are surely expert on that matter. How many polish pianist did you listen to? And please explain to everyone what is 'polish feel' and how would you characterise it? I'm VERY eager to listen to what you've got to say on that matter. I'm sure you've got a very deep knowledge of polish pianist. Maybe some examples of polish pianists and recordings that have this 'polish feel'? And "pollack" isn't a proper name of someone of polish nationality.

Why he was crowned 1st prize in the Chopin Intl' Piano Competition is drop jaw dumbfounding to me. His Chopin is unoriginal, unimaginative, misplaced accents, poor phrasings, and no poetry. Z plays the entire concerto in one breath w/o pause. The man doesn't understand scene change. In his later years his Chopin are so controlled and contrite, saturated with predictable trite phrasings, and frequently maudlin, all of which so much so one is apt to vomit.
