Mr. Tan you are a true inspiration of perfection. You give me the thriving sensation to compel myself to work further beyond my knowledge of drawing. Maybe someday i will meet upon your level of precision and become as hyperrealistic as you are. Thank you.

I kept seeing the opposite side of the high cheek bone, that wasn't there and a shadow behind the opposite side that would have given you an opportunity to find and lose your edge for some added depth to the whole picture. Most all of your dimension and depth is concentrated on your left side, his right, and it drops off on the right side, his left. Cover his left eye with your hand and it looks like a profile drawing.
@Curmudgeon201211 жыл бұрын
I realize that this is just a demo. (nicely done btw) but aren't you afraid that the oils (and the bacteria they carry) from your fingers will affect the archival quality of the drawing? I was always cautioned to use a chamois for that reason.
@manderbos12 жыл бұрын
I don't know how to draw so free. The way you hold the charcoal vine and your hand never rests on the paper. I would have to use a maul stick. I have never been able to draw freehand like this. Your style is so wonderful to watch.

You are awesome. Since non of my so called "teachers" can rly help me with this- what kind of paper (smooth, rough) and what char (raw or compressed) are u using to achieve this? When i do chars they actually dont stick above the lower layers that well. Ty :)

If you don't mind what type of paper are you using? With your expert hand the blending seams to go quite smoothly, I think I may have to much tooth on my paper and its hindering my attempts at smooth blending via finger.

You have such a delicate touch to handle the fine willow charcoal in that manner. The 90 minute results would have taken most people days to get close to your results. I would never have attempted that unless I was working with graphite. Masterfully executed!!!!
