A tip though: if you ever export a pdf from illustrator, it's gonna be a massive file, InDesign (for whatever reason) can take literally the same layout and cut it down to a byte sized file. Just a suggestion ;)

Agree, a lot of times I have to take that pdf and make a jpg file so it's not a massive 30-50 meg file. You also have to crop and do all your photos how you want them because they won't crop in Illustrator. Also, if y'all go to a printer, make sure your photos are CMYK. I guess there is a reason for a layout program and an artwork program :-)

Yeah true! It was difficult because when I moved the text off a bit then I could see just the bottom of the letters like the bottom curve of an 'e' and it looked awkward :P
