Ofcourse each state can have their official languages too, like in UP has 2 hindi and Urdu.Nagaland official language is English. But all states languages are not included in schedule 8 of the constitution. To sum it up, India has 2 official languages hindi and English, 22 scheduled languages , and around 5000 documented languages in total.

The bomabaiya marathi,then there is puneri, there is ghati, kohlapuri, malvani etc etc. In bihar there is bhojpuri and maithali .Both langs are totally different from eact other. This is a must watch film. A few things to be aware of first : this is set in a typical Indian village. Villagers are simple folk , and a strict hierarchy exists in rural India. At the top of the food chain is the “Zamindar” or landowner. Usually this person is also the village headman and a local politician. This increases their power exponentially and attracts hangers on and “Goons”. Usually the Zanindar is also the wealthiest person in the village and will host large gatherings for the rest of the village partly to appease them and partly as a power play. This is what this song depicts. Korbins question: why are the women separate? Because men and women do not mingle in traditional society. Especially uppercaste girls . They would not be allowed to socialize freely with the opposite sex. Women are usually tools in the hands of their male family. To be controlled and married off strategically. Rinky, the protagonist is a village girl and normally would be strictly controlled but her fathers power and influence gives her some immunity. That will explain a good portion of who these characters are and hopefully you will be able to appreciate the brilliant screenplay and movie better for it. Forget everything you’ve seen in Bollywood. This is the real India.
