"Zipp Storm" A Wonderbolt following Rainbow Dash's Example?

I think that'd be a pretty cool arc for Zipps, trying to be her own pony but always being pushed into situations or compared to Rainbow Dash and feeling like she had to become reckless and stoic just to prove ponies she wasn't like Rainbow Dash in any way. Only realizing that she still is her own pony later down the line and having somebody like Rainbow become more of an idol to strive to be in other ways that made her a great Pegasi would be another good aspect for Zipps to be herself. Finding that balance between doing what she loves and seeing herself in Rainbow without letting other dictate who she should strive to be or finding flaws and achievements that can easily be compared to Rainbow Dash's in a negative light.

Apparently there are only 5 main characters for the movie. And more importantly, this isn't G4.1. It's G5. They don't have to (and shouldn't) copy everything over from G4.

I certainly agree on the not letting there characters be pigeon hole into a role and that they should have their own way in expression their Element that is unique to them. For Zipp she sounds like the more serous and pragmatic of the five how's sense of loyalty is more about is closer to the Element of Honesty, AJ, in telling things her friends as things are as they are and is more about being high on entirety putting a lot of important to being loyal to her word and striding to help out her friend/subjects as best as she can. It could be she is secretly disgusted of her pegasus royalty hypocrisy of claiming to serve the needs of the subjects of the kingdom but in actuality looking only to perpetuate itself and doesn't give two bits about what the common pegasus needs are. She could be reluctantly following along her parents/nobles rules because she kept making compromises with the establishment and her own sense of ethics, which disgust her, and Sunny was just the pony to break out of that suffocating position that she has in the court, and uses begrudgingly protecting her sister in her adventure to see how things really are outside of the court or who things can be done elsewhere.

To be fair, a lot of the reason we're looking to the Mane 6 for the personality of the new Mane 5 is simply just how diverse the Mane 6 were in their personalities. They actually form a nice core archetype set for any group, so it's actually really easy to find them. Mind, that doesn't mean they can't shuffle stuff around, Jacen Solo from Star Wars was the Fluttershy of his group to start out, the lover of animals and peace, but turned into the Twilight of his group later on, adding those two traits together...and then later adding Nightmare Moon onto that, but that's what happens when you're tortured til crazy.

Zipp looks much more serious than Rainbow Dash... You can see in the initial promotional art work for Rainbow dash that it looks like she is very confident and boastful of her abilities, while Zipp looks like she would take her responsibilities much more seriously and seems to be more grounded and relax when not being put in the spotlight. Again this is just based on what I could infer from the promotional art work...it could be an entirely different situation to what can be seen at first glance.

Zipp does remind me alot of Rainbow dash wich I personally love because she's my favorite. I was kinda thinking more along the lines of her being the next queen in her family and her not fitting the girly queen standards like her sister Pipp makeing her feel out of place and not having anyone to look up to. All she has is her little sister to protect. But then she meets sunny and learns about Rainbow Dash who she feels she can relate with her and mabey even Scootaloo but is also new to friendship and lacks loyalty to her new friends.

I have no problem with her being less "girly" than the others, but I do hope she is a little less aggressive in her approach than Rainbow Dash was in the initial part of the G4 series. One option could be for her to agree to spend X amount of time doing what her sister wants and then have them spend the same amount of time on her own interest. If questioned on a "girly subject" she could take the approach of "that's not my thing, but you do your thing". An attempt at a healthy balance between "tough" and "kind/respectful" could allow plenty of wiggle room for character development, but also allow her to attempt to avoid any negative associations with Rainbow Dash. (The group journal showed mistakes made by each of the group members.)

I know it’s only a theory, but when I first got a look on Zipp, I immediately thought: yep, she’s the next Rainbow Dash. But what kept me thinking was the difference of colors on her wings and mane/tail. So, while talking with friends about theories, I suddenly thought: hey, apparently they have mobile phones now, which sounds like a big jump from the MLP series we used to know, so why not give them the possibilities to dye their mane/tails/feathers etc.? Which could possibly open up the theory, that Zipp was/is a big fan of (the legendary) Rainbow Dash (I mean, think of the figures in Sunny’s room) and somewhat wanted to look like her idol? Only a theory ^^ speculating with my own thoughts. Another thing that kept me busy is the similarity between Sunny and Scootaloo (colors). Maybe they are related?

This has nothing to do with the episode, but I just notice as I was watching and... It looks looks like the green pegasus guard has fluffy wing, just like Pipp. And I was thinking back to the episode where you talked about Pipp's wings being artificial. Maybe pegasus wings in this generation have different looks to them. Some have fluffy once like Pipp and some have "more normal" wings like Zipp. Just looking back to G4, Twilight and the other princesses all had different looking wings, so it could be possible that the pegasus of G5 has different looking wing. Just a thought, but it could be possible.

I wonder what would The Wonderbolts do in The MLP G5 Universe? In G4 The Wonderbolts controlled the weather and had cool flying shows. But in G5 would Pegasus control the weather? With the lack of Magic in G5 will the weather happen naturally? But even though Pegasus might not be able to control the weather in G5 The Wonderbolts are still a possibility. The Wonderbolts can still have cool flying shows in G5. But with the Three Tribes separated I can imagine that The Wonderbolts will have shows for other Pegasus. But if Zipp’s friends are also watching with the magic of friendship Zipp might have the ability to control the weather or even do a Sonic Rainboom. Which would make Pegasus compare Zipp to Rainbow Dash even more. Like DRWolf said Zipp might want to be her own character or she might have Rainbow Dash as her inspiration and be a fan of Rainbow Dash but she might still want to be her own character But what do you think?

If she had been revile being cocky like Rainbow Dash always is then no doughs of her being like Rainbow! The thing here is, the wings are not part of the actual cutie mark, Zipp’s cutie mark is just a Lightning bolt with a crown. You can see the wings on Pipp’s photo too, the wings are just the specie they represent

An interesting concept. One of my favorite series by one of my favorite authors deals with the legendary parents in the first 2 books including how they met their spouses. Then book 3 jumps forward in time and switches perspectives so the main characters are the son and daughter of the trilogies original main character and deals with this exact issue one character's son trying desperately to distance himself from his family legacy and always being compared to his father no mater what he does
