You should ride whatever bicycle you love - fat tires on pavement? Great! Bombing around gravel on a skinny tire road bike? Wondeful!
I prefer the wide, supple tires these days. Give me my gravel bike on the road and my ATB on the chunk.
Rene Herse makes great knobby tires that also roll fast on pavement - but so do many brands these days. All terrain bikes and wide all terrain tires are my choice these days.
In this video we hit a bit of everything, bike paths in Cleveland, Industrial Gravel in Akron, and mountain bike trails in Lake Milton. Three completely different bikes including my 1983 Trek 500.
